I went to a bar with over 100 beers from all over the world in Bangkok
There were some funny facts about beer. I was really surprised to read that a beer would cost 1850 USD.. As I am always interested in learning new things, I took a picture of the Fun Fact and did a little research. Usually a bottle of beer costs 3-10$... Why would a bottle of beer cost 1850 USD (did they mix gold into it?)
Fun Fact
Antarctic Nail Ale
In 2010 John did a one-off brew called Antarctic Nail Ale which was brewed for and in conjunction with the Sea Shepherd Conversation Society, a non-profit organisation dedicated to the protecting the world’s oceans. Antarctic Nail Ale was based on our flagship Nail Ale, a classic Australian style pale ale, and brewed using a huge iceberg flown in directly from the Antarctic. It was melted in Tasmania before being brought to Perth to be used in the brew. SOURCE
So what's this all about? Why is there an iceberg?
If you read the quote above you will know that they flew in an iceberg from Antarctic to Tasmania to melt it there and than transport the water to Perth to brew the beer. Reason for the beer being so expensive is to support the Sea Shepherd Conversation Society which is a non-profit to save the oceans.
It is great that the Non-Profit is receiving the money from the sale of this beer but I wonder about the carbon footprint of this beer.
Would you pay 1850 USD for a beer if it was for a good cause ???
