So that's not just a big chicken egg. Finally after 6 months we got a duck egg and it was huge and honestly out of our smaller flock of birds. I've never even seen a duck egg in person so I can't say it's bigger than average.
Those aren't spots, that's mud as ducks are worse than pigs with mud.
The huge yolk made me instantly understand why people love these for baking purposes. Many cookie and muffin recipes call for an extra egg yolk which wouldn't be necessary with a duck egg.
And we're getting eggs from all sorts of places we weren't before which is exciting after so many months of literally nothing but quail eggs.
