Farm Update: Chicken Imitates Judd Weiss with Awesome Feather Sideburns

Yes, those sideburns are for real. This chicken started showing these a few months ago and was separated into this enclosure with these birds. We instantly took a liking to it. It honestly reminds of us of popular Libertarian photographer Judd Weiss and his characteristic facial hair.

We had no idea chickens could even have facial feathering like this until we had this chicken. It's one of our older birds at this point and is also one of the friendliest. This bird, who we've dubbed Judd until it starts laying to which I'll probably start calling it Janet (talking a Rocky Horror Picture Show reference here...) is one of the few chickens on the property down with me petting it.

I adore this chicken and I will say the name is a joke and should be taken as such. This chicken must have seen a picture of Judd somewhere along the line and decided that's way they wanted to be (not how it works but it'd be a cute thought). Before I know it's gonna be asking me for a Sony Mirrorless Camera Chicken Edition....which would be awesome if it existed.

This is not the craziest of chicken feathering out there. I get a kick out of the interesting looking ones and intend to keep this one around and hopefully breed it's chicken sideburns into future generations. It's a charming sweet bird.
