For just a wee little taste of the thousands of photos I took over the last month,
I now present:
The Feasts of SteemFest 2!
Day 2, continued (part 1 here)
(Day 1 here ~ here ~ & here)
After a day of interesting presentations and steemy mingling, it was time for dinner at Estrada Montes Claros!
Again we shared a fancy schmancy white tablecloth dinner with shit tons of place settings.
The dinner began with another fresh light green soup; this time it was served with a poached egg! While the soup was delicious and refreshing, I heard at least one person comment that they would have been happy to replace the pea soup with a nice serving of drugs, a la SteemFest the First in Amsterdam
The main course for carnivores included a tender, delicious leg of fowl that I don't know the name of - is this what pheasant looks like? Pheasant would have been appropriately fancy.
The fowl was served over a schmear of sweet potato purée with a cute little bundle of steamed greens topped with a cherry tomato. Waiters walked around with platters of seconds for those who did not yet have their fill of the main dishes.
While I sat right next to the glowing vegetarian @everlove, I didn't even think to take a photo of her vegetarian meal - whoops! I blame the abundant wine...Anyhoo, she said she had rice and veggies.
For dessert, they presented these lovely bars of yummy limey cheesecake!
It's interesting to me that catered events generally serve the exact same dish for every single person with the exact same plating...it's so different than our fully customizable daily feasts in the @gardenofeden. But, contrast makes experience!
As if we weren't served enough delightful food, did anyone notice that the land at this day's location was bursting with bountiful treats from nature?! As with most of Portugal, there were abundant olive trees (although olives aren't very tasty unless they're cured). My personal favorite find were these exotic fruits called medronhos! They had a red spiky exterior but an incredible sweet, creamy, bright yellow-orange center. They grew on trees, but the ripest ones fall to the ground and can be plucked right off the Earth for immediate feasting.
That was dinner on conference day the second, which we enjoyed with enjoyable company. Here's a selfie taken with @timsaid, me, @everlove, and @roxane while he showed us his sweet drone footage from the afternoon.
I hope you're enjoying my little taste of the Feasts of SteemFest 2! There was much more remarkable food, which I will share in upcoming posts :)
For anyone who follows the @gardenofeden, you know that sharing food is one of our favorite things to do! It's profound to join in quality company while eating; the matter & energy we consume becomes our physical bodies. It's a meaningful social act to have a meal together, and I'm grateful to share the feasts with you here on the blockchain so even more people can enjoy.
