The Freedom of Freewriters!
Everyday @mariannewest shares a 5 minute freewrite prompt inviting everyone interested to try their hand at creating original content in a five minute timed freewrite exercise.
Begin today with this prompt: Dream
Thank you @mariannewest
for inviting me to share in the over 20 Club post! I want to thank all of the freewriting members for both reading my work and inspiring me to write more!
Freewriting = Permission
I spent most of my life hiding behind poetry, while deep inside longing to write fiction. I love reading, and I delved into the land of Steemit with eyes wide open. Some of the writers here are downright intimidating!
Face it, we are all artists and wordsmiths, and none one wants to fall flat on their face. I was afraid try my hand at fiction again after all of these years. Fiction just seems so complex and I didn't know what was latent inside of me.
My first freewrite was rather weak. It was on the word splinter. But, like @byn related in her post over 20 post
My Freewriting Journey: My Escape from Mental Constipation the pressure was off. How badly could I screw up a 5 minute freewrite? I set the timer and just wrote whatever came to mind with splinter. I've never had the luxury of joining a real writer's club, but I've jumped platform to platform online thinking I'd find a writer's home and then they all fell flat. I did attend writing classes in college as I was able to fill my credit requirements, but I always longed for the feedback that came from a writer's group.
Enter @marianewest
very new herself to Steemit, she had little steem power, but she has a lot of understanding about how to help writers. I landed on her freewrite prompt splinter and I was hooked! I received positive feedback and then she surprised me with a link to the next prompt in my comments! That alone was enough to challenge me to keep going. Marianne nurtures her community! That gentle link reminder in my busy life was all I needed. The wonderful feedback and the kind patience of everyone reading and commenting regularly on my freewrites has helped me blossom even more as a writer. The wonderful feedback on some of my fiction has put a burr under my saddle to write more. One of the key lessons that freewriting has taught me is just stop censoring myself and focus on what's inside dying to get out.
I loved what @marrianwest was doing, and I started searching for people who could help provide her with the steem power that she needed to be able to give more upvotes and encourage more writers. I am a also member and delegator of Minnow Support Project, an excellent place which nurtures minnows. One evening I sat in on a MSPRadio Broadcast hosted by @swelker101 The Shane Show where you can play a dice game. During the show you all roll the dice. He allows you to put your name in for a delegation for someome who needs steem power if you have previously won a delegation yourself. I had previously been lucky enough to win a 500 SP delegation for a month. You can also stand in for someone who has under 500 SP if you wish. If you roll the highest dice you win a delegation for the person you select. The dice rolled and my dice was highest. I was a winner for Marianne and this is just the beginning of freewriter's delegations!
It is a wonderful privilege to be part of the freewriters and I have come to love many of the members and I now consider many my friends. I am so happy to see the group growing and growing by leaps and bounds!
I selected a few of my freewrites from the daily prompt exercises to share with you.

There's always something new happening, so Marianne suggested a three-prompt weekend with a twist. I believe this is my first of that sort. If you don't want to do the three prompts, you can stick to a one prompt option chosen from past prompts that you haven't yet had a chance to write about.
