Today I drove to Germany with one of my friends and my cousin. We arrived late but still had a couple of hours to enjoy some quality time at Gamescom. Our first day is traditionally reserved for merchandise and looking which games are worth waiting in line for.
Our favorite list
- Dragonball Z fighter
2D fighter that plays a lot like a Capcom fighter - Cuphead
Original run 'n shooter that reminds me of Gunstar heroes. The game has a 50's cartoon style. - Assassin's Creed Origins
- Monster Hunter World
- Mario Odyssey
- Fifa 18
- PES 2018
- Battlefront 2
- Hidden Agenda
- Biomutant
These are the games we are definitely going to check out tomorrow. We were able to play Dragonball Z fighter and Cuphead today.
First impressions:
Dragonball Z fighter
This game plays and feels just like Capcom fighter, this is not unsurprising because the game was made by Arc Systems who also made games like Guilty Gear and Blazblue.
The graphics are crisp and the action fluid. Gameplay is great, moves are easy to pull off and the game is easy to get into.
Cuphead
A very difficult run 'n gun side scrolling shooter that has some similarity with the genesis/megadrive classic Gunstar Heroes.
You can play co op in run mode or free fire mode and switch between weapons. The game has an unique 50's cartoon style in regards to graphics and music. The graphics are just beautiful and the gameplay is very solid. Get ready to die a lot because this game is hard even on the "simple"setting.
Microsoft still needs to optimize the game because during gameplay I noticed some lag. The game is expected to be released in 2018 so MS still has some time to work out the kinks.
The Pics
The arrival
On arrival we could see that the place was packed
one of the side entrances
The cosplay
There was some good cosplay - No weapons were allowed however
An very original costume indeed
Overwatch's Doomfist was also invited
A lot of cars
With Gran Turismo, Forza and Project Cars 2 struttin' their stuff you know that there would be a lot of cars on display.
Grand Turismo had an Audi on display
Forza is rockin' a nice Porsche
Perhaps the best looking car was brought Project cars, an absolutely stunning looking Mclaren.
PC Cases
We also found a stand with some unbelievable great looking PC Case mods.
Yes, the following pictures are really PC cases.
This PC case actually has moving parts
Familiar Characters
Destiny 2 was also available but since I already played the open beta and the game will be playable I will probably not get in line for Destiny this year (although you get a D2 t-shirt so I might change my mind just to get my hands on the free give away)
There were some nice looking guardians on display
The "merch" aka The Merchandise
The merchandise hall was moved, most likely because of the fact that the number of sellers of game and anime goods just keeps growing each year, much to the delight of the visitors willing to spend their money and buy the goodies offered.
As always the merchandise hall (or Fan shop arena as it is called) was packed
There are some nice looking figures for sale, here is a nice one of Street Fighter's Ibuki
Marvel's Dr Strange looking ominous
An impressive looking Alien, made out of different metal parts
In closing
It was a long day and we left Gamescom at 19:30. On leaving I was able to shoot some last pictures. As you can see it was still very busy until the end
World of Warcraft
The last people preparing to leave (not really in a rush though)
This was a impression of my first day of Gamescom, stay tuned for some in depth info about the games we are going to play tomorrow. And remember to use the #gaming tag when posting about gaming. See my post about the #gaming tag in my previous post Steemit Gamers Unite!
