Heavy rains that have fallen in the North Aceh Regency in recent days have caused a number of sub-districts in the district to be flooded. Pirak Timu, Paya Bakong, Matang Kuli, Syamtalira Aron, Samudera and Lhoksukon sub-districts are the capital of North Aceh Regency.

The problem of flooding in the district is a disaster that occurs almost every year, based on information obtained, the floods experienced so far are closely related to massive forest logging. The conversion of protected forest functions into the plantation sector is not controlled, this has led to prolonged flooding in the area.

Massive logging has eliminated the function of forests as preventing erosion, storing groundwater, and becoming a balance of groundwater in the rainy and dry seasons. We, from the World Smile Project, are also concerned about the disaster that befell this district, with the higher rainfall, the higher the water discharge along the river. Recently, it was reported that in several sub-districts, river embankments had started to break and water had inundated people's houses.

The flood disaster that occurred made access to electricity, the availability of basic needs difficult to reach, they had to leave their homes and evacuate, some of them lived in emergency tents, and some use public facilities such as places of worship, schools, offices as temporary residences.

Based on information obtained from @alee who is an active steemian, currently, the water level is 1.5 - 2 meters in memory of residential areas in Matang Kuli District, the local district, but in other areas such as Dayah Village, Lhoksukon District, the flood shipments that inundated settlements were above 2 meters.

The World Smile Project is trying to provide emergency response support in the form of providing basic food items at several isolated refugee points and lacking food ingredients, we plan to distribute these needs in the form of rice, eggs, cooking oil, mineral water, and several other needs according to the needs of the refugees.

A very worrying thing happened yesterday afternoon when a child with the initials AN was carried away by the current and had breathed his last. This is not the first incident, but flooding has become a major problem in the district resulting in millions of dollars in losses.

To help raise aid funds, the World Smile Project expects all elements of the Steem For BetterLife Community to be able to make donations by sharing rewards to the @worldsmile account or by direct transfer. This was done considering a large number of refugees and the limited budget of the World Smile Project to fund Emergency Response.

Currently, World Smile is building a Clean Water and Sanitation Facility, which has transferred 200 SBD for the Emergency Response Fund to the Philippines due to the typhoon which destroyed housing in Mactan.
We must respond to this incident and the World Smile Project will temporarily suspend the Suitable Food Organic program and focus on the flood disaster that occurred.

Come on… Donate some of your assets to help them and ease the burden they are experiencing, do it now even on a smaller scale because it means a lot to them.
