Art Attack #122: A Bean between two Shocking Valleys? πŸ€” [Part 1]

Hey Steemit!

We're back again with another Art Attack! If you're new to the series, this is where I share my drawings and the process behind them. A behind-the-scenes look at my artwork, if you will. This is not to say that I'm very good at art, or that I'm a professional in any way. In fact this is the opposite, and serves as a reminder to how I first started, and lets me track my progress too!

So if you weren't aware, I've been streaming on Twitch for quite some time now and it's been fun trying out different games and making new friends in chat and with other streamers too! And I was fortunate enough to have loyal viewers whom enabled me to get Twitch Affiliate only a month after I started streaming!

We're still continuing on our series of channel art redemptions since Twitch Affiliates get the benefit of having channel points that viewers can redeem for special rewards! And since I'm an artist I thought I'd reward my loyal viewers with some free artwork!

It doesn't come cheap of course, but surprisingly a lot of viewers have amassed quite a number of points and ever since I came up with this redeem I got flooded with requests that it kept me pretty busy for quite a while.

And at the end of the previous post, I teased one of the hardest requests I'd ever done since it was very detailed and you will see why!

So backstory time! This was a redemption by one of my viewers, MinuteBean, on Twitch! He was actually a really big supporter of my channel and was very active in my chat back in the day. So much so that there was a lot of lore surrounding him and 8ball (a chat bot on my channel), and I drew him a special tribute piece for his birthday!

Initially when he made the request he wanted me to draw him within the bosom of the waifus from Genshin Impact, specifically Eula and Ganyu, who look kinda like this:

Obviously since Genshin is an anime game all the waifus body proportions are heavy in the right areas, as they say, and their fanbase is very thirsty as a result. Anyway, Bean definitely made that request as a "joke" and was kinda disappointed when I told him I can't draw boobs well because I'm not experienced drawing people let alone thicc waifus. But then again, the whole point of these requests was to go out of my comfort zone art-wise so I told him I would give it a shot.

And upon hearing that Bean was excited and changed his mind to 2 different characters - Raiden Shogun and Lisa, who technically have the biggest bust size of all the female characters in Genshin, or so it's been found. It felt kinda gross to fulfill such a degenerate request but I wanted to try and make it cute/classy if I could, and not at all dirty. If that was at all possible.

The idea was pretty simple, since it was just the 2 characters with Bean in the middle. But becuase of how detailed the characters are in Genshin Impact, I knew this was going to be a huge undertaking. I could also foresee the perspective being an issue for me since I'm not very good at that.

This is what the characters Raiden Shogun and Lisa look like in-game, and they have electric powers! You can tell miHoYo/Hoyoverse is really pandering for that fanservice.

There was obviously no way I could draw them accurately so I at least wanted them to look cute? So I went with a chibi-style but since chibis are known to have big heads and small bodies, the challenge was to make them have chibi heads but normal bodies with big boobs essentially. And it was quite a challenge but I eventually got this sketch:

Even this sketch took a long time and I had to adjust the perspective quite a bit to make sure the boob positions made sense in a way. I had so many reference images and was actually super lucky I found this one since it was in the perfect angle I was looking for!

While it was obviously not in the style that I was going for, it was immensely helpful since I was having a real hard time with the angle of their bodies. They kept looking too flat because I just couldn't picture them at the right angle. I think I ended up with Raiden still a little off but it was honestly the best I could do and it looked pretty good already so I just left it at that.

After that I sketched their outfits as best as I could and made sure to include most of the details. I don't know how long the sketch alone took, but I was very relieved to get it done. After that was outlining which I thought was going to be easier but it just proved how messy my sketch was that I had to make a lot of corrections. It looked good enough at the time though.

Here's a timelapse of the piece up to this point which is already 4 minutes long, so you can guess how long the whole timelapse took, let alone the whole piece.

But I think that's going to be all for now or the post will be way too long! Sorry for the long post but hope you enjoy reading all about the process behind this piece! Tune in next week for the exciting conclusion and to see what the final piece looks like with full colour!

Thanks so much for reading!
