Achievement 6 Task by @rapsantos: Understanding Curation and Community

English is considered as the universal language. Anyone can speak the language. Doesn't matter what you look like, where you from, race or religion, or your status in life, what matters is you can speak the language itself either just the basics or the advanced level. It takes practice and mastery. The best part of it? You can meet new friends as you gain confidence and interact with others. A money making skill just like this platform.

I remember what @njaywan mentioned when I joined my 1st community after I created my account. But we'll get to there later on.

"You should rather introduce yourself in the "Newcomer's Community". Complete these and gain knowledge on how steemit works. You can mention me so that I find your introductory post there. That's how you grow your account as a newbie as well. Glad to have you around in our world of football community as well."

With his advice and after following the tasks, I'm now on to the last achievement on this community, and before anything else I would like to say thank you in advance for your support. It gives me encouragement to write more and will continue to use this platform. Before anything else, here are my previous achievements below:

  1. Introduce Yourself
  2. Basic Security on Steem
  3. Content Etiquette
  4. Applying Markdowns
  5. The following tasks under Achievement 5:

For this task, we were asked if we fully understand how upvoting/downvoting and curation works, and the communities around this platform. Without further ado, let's get started.

How voting and curation works? You can upvote or downvote limiting to 100% and use it wisely as it can carry less influence. But, it charges up to 20% everyday. You can still vote more or less than 10 votes and the system regenerates your voting mana every single day. It's just like a role-playing game where you can use your mana power to cast a spell for your teammates or to your enemies, but it can regenerate either visitng a mana temple, or gain experience by levelling up your character or request to buff your mana power from your teammates. I already checked this option on my account and it can only be added once you reach 500 Steem Power (SP). For downvoting an article, you can still use it if the post is abusive or violated the community standards. It is up to our decision if we want to use it.

The curation works on a split-share between the author and the curator. The author receives 50% and the other 50% goes to the curator. What happens if you vote a post before the 5 minute mark after posting? If a post is upvoted before or later than 5 minutes after posting, the curation reward of 100% goes to the curator.

Who will you vote for Steem Witness, and why? I haven't cast my vote for Steem Witness, but I'll choose @steemchiller and @justyy, the creators of steemworld.org and steemscan.com. Aside from creating their websites for the Steemit blockchain, they're currently on top as Witnesses so they can still monitor everyone around the platform.

Communities.png

Which community did you join in Steemit, and why? The moment I created my account months ago, I joined the following communities below.

  • World of Football - As I previously mentioned on my introduction, I'm a passionate football fan and currently part of the Ultras movement here in the Philippines. With my tenure for 6 years of supporting a local football club. 8 years and still supporting our national team: the Azkals, I want to share our progress of our local league and the national scene, achievements, history and everything in between the Filipino Football community. Basketball is the dominating sport of my country, but it is great to see kids, even the youngsters got interested on the sport.
  • Photography - I'm a photographer. I want to share my photos to the community from the streets to the urban life, from the previous events I covered like pop culture conventions, concerts, car/motor shows and even sporting events (mostly Football), also toy photography. Once everything is back in full circle, I will continue to cover events and upload my photos here instead of using my personal accounts on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Freewriters, Writing & Reviews, Netflix & Streaming, and Newcommers' community - For the last 4 communities, this is where I can improve and share my reviews from Movies and other TV Series. Also, this is where I can share my experiences around the platform and teach newbies how it works.

After joining the communities listed above, one steemian invited me to be part of the World of Xpillar and already checked most of the posts on this community. A combination of photography and arts where you can submit entries of your original work, then get rewarded. Soon, I'll submit my entry on this community. I uploaded my first video on D.Tube, and it's about my life during the lockdown. Click or tap here to view my video. Recently joined Steem SEA where I can meet other steemians around South East Asia.

I'll look on other communities as well, I may create a community of my own and aside from meeting new people from different communities, I can use this platform from what I learned from the coding bootcamp I attended a year ago, from the proper use of tags, then I can create my own website for the Steem blockchain in the foreseeable future.
