On a matchday that promised spectacle, thanks to the interesting clashes between teams at the top of the standings, the leaders Milan, stopped against all odds on a draw (2-2) by Genoa, reduced even more her advantage, now only one point left over rivals of Inter.
Unlike the match against Parma, in which the Rossoneri's draw seemed largely influenced by unfortunate episodes, in Genoa, Milan, still without its star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, showed some of its most evident weaknesses, especially in the defensive phase, but was able for the second time to make up for the disadvantage.

A few days ago I wrote an article about the last Scudetto won by the Rossoneri, trying to catch any similarities with the current championship, which if verified would have led to an inevitable slowdown of the team currently at the top of the standings: judging the performances of the last few weeks, Milan appears to be in a downward phase of their seasonal parable, and I fear it will not be difficult to predict in the coming weeks, a change at the top of the ranking, if we consider the actual quality of the Rossoneri squad, good, but probably not up to compete long for victory.
Inter coached by Antonio Conte in fact, now devoid of the European "distractions", are recovering very quickly from behind, although the match against Napoli returned a rather liar result at the end of the ninety minutes. The Neapolitans dominated the match, from a technical and tactical point of view, even in ten against eleven following the expulsion of Insigne, but they had to surrender in front of the penalty kick granted to the opponents for Ospina's foul on Darmian (in one of Inter's very few offensive sorties), to a super Handanovic, and to the post hit by Petagna in the last attacking action of the match.
The referee Massa was challenged by Gattuso's team for the non-expulsion of Skriniar at the end, which appeared rather evident, but it is difficult to say that this could have affected the result, as it happened in Turin, with yet another performance to forget by Doveri. , not helped by VAR colleagues at all.
The ref from Rome 1 section, often a negative protagonist in the matches in which he referees the bianconeri, had a lot of influence on the game, first forgiving the Atalantines Romero and De Roon for committing fouls worthy of sent-off, then granting a penalty to Juventus (failed by Ronaldo) due to a contact in the penalty area suffered by Federico Chiesa, who appeared to most people very light, if not even non-existent.
The draw resulting from the match between Juventus and Atalanta, however, seemed correct, and able to demonstrate once again the lack of maturity of Andrea Pirlo's men; the Italian champions still remain undefeated in the league, but they begin to look more and more like Atalanta, a team able to beat anyone when on a day of grace, but not able to maintain a continuity of results that guarantees effective chances to compete for the scudetto.
Having reached a third of the way, and with the first real maturity exam failed, Juventus' credentials are slowly eroding: to date, the bianconeri, if they ever have been, are no longer the favorites for the title, but the margin of team growth still leaves real hopes for a change for the better, as long as the team begins not to lose more points against opponents considered less strong.
Roma must not struggle too much, in the postponement on Monday, to beat Giampaolo's battered Torino (in ten men since the fourteenth minute for the expulsion remedied by Singo), thus hooking Juventus to third place in the standings. After the heavy debacle in Naples and the internal draw with Sassuolo, Roma seem to have begun to engage the high gears again, but the feeling that even for the Capitoline the lack of continuity could in the long run become a problem remains too strong. Defeats like the one suffered at the San Paolo may be the result of a bad evening, but more likely they are the mirror of some important deficiency, in terms of players or ideas.
Moreover, in the black evening of the referees, also at the Olimpico the referee Abisso became a negative protagonist, distorting the game with the second yellow card against the Granata player Singo, who seemed excessively severe. The Torino, which to date appears to be the worst team in Serie A (perhaps the only one without a real gameplay idea), would probably have ended up losing even in numerical parity, but the match, conducted in its almost entirety in ten versus eleven, it will end up providing its worst effects with the alibis the environment has already clung to.
Such negative seasons never arise by chance (or due to some arbitrary mistake too many), but are the result of wrong choices, on and off the field: it is time that President Urbano Cairo, together with all his collaborators, agreed to take the heavy responsibilities that belong to him, for the purchases of the wrong players and for the evident failure of the project entrusted to Giampaolo.
Mea culpa which should also play Rocco Commisso, who with the unfortunate change of coach on the bench of his Fiorentina, has plunged the team into an atmosphere of uncertainty and confusion. Cesare Prandelli, a highly experienced coach, but with too mixed fortunes in the last part of his career, has been struggling more than expected to find the key to the problem since he took the place of Iachini, and the team appears much worse in the gameplay and in the attitude.
The Viola have collected only three points out of the fifteen available, since the former coach of the national team returned to the leadership of the lily team, worsening the average of the former coach (eight out of twenty-one), which if maintained would have thrown the team into the center of the ranking, in line with expectations, demonstrating that incompetent managers are often more harmful than mediocre players.
Attention to the next round, where what I predicted could be verified, that is a change in the top of the standings: Milan will visit Sassuolo, a good quality team that will fight until the end for a European position, while for the city rivals of Inter shouldn't have any problems overcoming Spezia at San Siro; Roma will have to confirm that they are not a flash in the pan, which goes out at the first storm, on the Atalanta field, while for the Italian champions Juventus, yet another repair exam (of medium difficulty) on the Parma ground, with the commitment of Napoli, at the Olimpico with Lazio, to close the circle of the favorite races for the title.

In una giornata che prometteva spettacolo, in virtù degli interessanti scontri tra squadre ai vertici della classifica, la capolista Milan, fermata contro ogni pronostico sul pareggio (2-2) dal Genoa, ha visto assottigliarsi ancora di più il suo vantaggio, ridotto adesso ad un solo punticino sui rivali dell'Inter.
A differenza della partita con il Parma, nella quale il pareggio dei rossoneri è sembrato per buona parte influenzato da episodi sfortunati, a Genova il Milan, ancora priva della sua stella Zlatan Ibrahimovic, ha evidenziato alcuni dei suoi punti deboli più evidenti, soprattutto nella fase difensiva, ma è stato abile per la seconda volta a recuperare da una situazione di svantaggio.
Qualche giorno fa scrissi un pezzo sull'ultimo scudetto vinto dai rossoneri cercando di cogliere eventuali analogie con il campionato attuale, che se verificate avrebbero portato ad un inevitabile rallentamento della squadra in testa alla classifica: a giudicare le prestazioni delle ultime settimane, il Milan appare in una fase discedentente della propria parabola stagionale, e temo non sia difficile profetizzare nelle prossime settimane, un cambio in vetta alla graduatoria, se si considera l'effettiva qualità della rosa rossonera, buona, ma probabilmente non all'altezza di competere a lungo per la vittoria.
L'Inter di Antonio Conte infatti, ormai priva delle "distrazioni" europee, sta rinvenendo in maniera molto veloce da dietro, sebbene la gara contro il Napoli abbia restituito al termine dei novanta minuti un risultato piuttosto bugiardo: i partenopei hanno dominato l'incontro sotto il punto di vista tecnico e tattico, anche in dieci contro undici in seguito all'espulsione di Insigne, ma si sono dovuti arrendere di fronte al rigore concesso agli avversari per il fallo di Ospina su Darmian (in una delle pochissime sortite offensive dell'Inter), ad un super Handanovic, e al palo colpito da Petagna nell'ultima azione d'attacco dell'incontro.
L'arbitro Massa è stato contestato dalla squadra di Gattuso per la mancata espulsione di Skriniar sul finale, apparsa piuttosto evidente, ma difficile affermare che questa possa aver condizionato il risultato, come invece accaduto a Torino, con l'ennesima prestazione da dimenticare di Doveri, per nulla aiutato dai colleghi del VAR.
Il fischietto della sezione di Roma 1, spesso protagonista in negativo nelle partite in cui arbitra i bianconeri, ha inciso notovelmonte sulla gara, prima perdonando gli atalantini Romero e De Roon per aver commesso falli degni di espulsione, poi concedendo un rigore alla Juventus (fallito da Ronaldo) per un contatto in area subito da Federico Chiesa, apparso ai più molto leggero, se non addirittura inesistente.
Il risultato di parità scaturito dalla sfida tra Juventus e Atalanta, è alla fine comunque sembrato corretto, e in grado di evidenziare ancora una volta la poca maturità degli uomini di Andrea Pirlo; i campioni d'Italia restano ancora imbattuti in campionato, ma cominciano ad assomigliare sempre di più all'Atalanta, squadra in grado di battere chiunque quando in giornata, ma poco capace di mantenere una continuità di risultati che restituisca effettive chanches di competere per lo scudetto.
Giunti ad un terzo del percorso, e con il primo vero esame di maturità fallito, le credenziali della Juventus si stanno lentamente erodendo: ad oggi i bianconeri, qualora lo siano mai stati, non sono più i favoriti per il titolo, ma il margine di crescita della squadra lascia ancora concerete speranze di un cambio di passo, purché la squadra cominci a non perdere più punti contro avversari sulla carta inferiori.
La Roma non deve faticare troppo, nel posticipo del lunedì, per avere la meglio del malandato Torino di Giampaolo (in dieci uomini fin dal quattordicesimo minuto per l'espulsione rimediata da Singo), agganciando così la Juventus al terzo posto in classifica. Dopo la pesante debacle di Napoli e il pareggio interno con il Sassuolo, la Roma sembra aver ricominciato ad ingranare le marce alte, ma la sensazione che anche per i capitolini la mancanza di continuità possa alla lunga diventare un problema rimane troppo forte. Sconfitte come quella subita al San Paolo possono essere frutto di una serata storta, ma più verosimilmente sono specchio di qualche importante carenza, a livello di organico o idee.
Inoltre, nella serata nera dei direttori di gara, anche all'Olimpico l'arbitro Abisso si è reso protagonista negativo, falsando la gara con la seconda ammonizione ai danni del giocatore granata Singo, sembrata eccessivamente severa. Il Torino, che ad oggi appare di gran lunga la squadra peggiore della Serie A (forse l'unica senza una reale idea di gioco), avrebbe probabilmente finito per perdere anche in parità numerica, ma la gara, condotta nella sua quasi interezza in dieci contro undici, finirà per fornire i suoi effetti peggiori con gli alibi ai quali l'ambiente si è già aggrappato.
Stagioni così negative non nascono mai per caso (o per qualche errore arbitrale di troppo), ma sono frutto di scelte sbagliate, in campo e fuori: sarebbe ora che il presidente Urbano Cairo, insieme a tutti i suoi collaboratori, accettasse di prendersi le pesanti responsabilità che pendono sul suo capo, per una campagna acquisti sbagliata e per l'evidente fallimento che si nasconde dietro al progetto affidato a Giampaolo.
Mea culpa che dovrebbe recitare anche il buon Rocco Commisso, che con lo sciagurato cambio di allenatore sulla panchina della sua Fiorentina, ha fatto precipitare la squadra in un clima di incertezza e confusione. Cesare Prandelli, allenatore di grande esperienza, ma dalle fortune troppo alterne nell'ultima parte di carriera, sta faticando più del previsto a trovare il bandolo della matassa da quando siede al posto di Iachini, e la squadra appare di gran lunga peggiorata nel gioco e nella testa.
I Viola hanno raccolto solo tre punti su quindici disponibili, da quando l'ex C.T. della nazionale è tornato alla guida della formazione gigliata, peggiorando la media dell'ex allenatore (otto su ventuno), che se mantenuta avrebbe proiettato la squadra a centro classifica, in linea con le aspettative, a dimostrazione del fatto che spesso dirigenti incompetenti sono più dannosi di giocatori mediocri.
Attenzione al prossimo turno, dove si potrebbe verificare quanto da me pronosticato, ovvero un cambio in testa alla classifica: il Milan farà visita al Sassuolo, squadra di buona qualità che lotterà fino alla fine per una posizione europea, mentre per i rivali cittadini dell'Inter non dovrebbe esserci alcun problema nel superare lo Spezia a San Siro; la Roma dovrà confermare di non essere un fuoco di paglia, che si spegne al primo temporale, sul campo dell'Atalanta, mentre per i campioni d'Italia della Juventus ennesimo esame di riparazione (di media difficoltà) sul terreno del Parma, con l'impegno del Napoli, all'Olimpico con la Lazio, a chiudere il cerchio delle gare delle favorite per il titolo.
