Drawing like a pro - 6, the first exercises

Hi friends!

Let's do the first daily exercises to familiarize ourselves with our tools and supports.
First, clarify that the objective of these exercises is to gain muscle memory.

What is muscle memory?

Our body has a memory that is not so obvious to us but that is what allows us to walk, jump, speak, play a musical instrument, etc, etc. This is muscle memory.
Muscle memory is slow but very permanent through time. Have you thought about how long it takes us to learn to walk and run without falling frequently? About 5 years, maybe a little more.
A musician also takes about 7 years to masterfully play an instrument. Much of what we call "talent" is the result of hard work and the exercise of our muscle memory.
The objective of these exercises is to let your body internalize the use of your pencils in its muscle memory so that this does not pose a difficulty when drawing.

Daily practice

Practice drawing straight lines and circles, and doing grey gradients. Do not exert pressure with the pencil on the paper, instead apply light successive strokes.
The goal here is to gain mobility in the hand and arm. Don't try to make things perfect or realistic, instead try to draw those circles, ellipses or straight lines as best you can.
Use the pencils in the way that I have shown you in the previous post. Make shaded areas, try to get dark areas by crossing several lines, first in one direction, then in the opposite direction, then perpendicular, and so on.

In the following images, I show you some simple exercises to gain confidence with the use of pencils on different papers.

I have started this series of posts dedicated to drawing, with the aim of sharing with you techniques, "secrets", tricks, tips, and curiosities, to teach you how to draw whatever you want, using the technique you want.
The road is long but full of beautiful things if you want to learn what I have learned from other artists and draftsmen.
