長野でボラバイト『５日目 : 農家が抱える問題』
Volu-beit on day 5. I ate Nozawana soba and drank juice "Caropple" at a nearby Road Station. ("Road Station" is parking areas along government roads where drivers can take a break.) Even in the countryside, I felt it convenient to have such facilities in the distance that I can walk.
ボラバイト５日目🍃
近くの道の駅で、野沢菜入りの蕎麦と地元の人参を使ったジュース"キャロップルちゃん"を飲んで出勤しました。田舎と言えど歩いていける距離にこういった施設があるのは便利だと感じました。
On this day, I screened Edamame beans. (Edamame is green soybeans.) I screened and eliminated Edamame in poor condition such as corruption, worm attack, discoloration and so on. Some people repeat this for 8 hours everyday as Edamame is a lot. Thirty percent of the harvested edamame will be disposed of and returned to the earth.
この日は、さらに細かく枝豆を選別しました。具体的には、房の破損、虫食い、変色など状態の悪いものを見極め、排除していくといった根気のいる作業でした。量が量なのでこれを毎日８時間、永遠と繰り返す人もいます。採ってきた分の３割は廃棄となり、土に返します。
I heard various problem of agriculture during the work.
◆Lack of manpower
Workers from overseas will return their country someday. Retention rate is low. Young farmers are increasing, but many people leave agriculture because they can not stand the gap between reality and ideals.
◆Relationship with JA (Agricultural cooperative)
Crops in a bad state will certainly come out at a certain rate. It is inevitable because humans are screening out it. But JA does not allow that. Farmers must make better ones while considering labor costs.
◆Frozen foods are getting delicious
Recently, the taste of edamame of frozen food has become tasty. Frozen foods are Edamame from overseas, but Japanese people are supervising it, so they are made to taste preferred by Japanese people. Domestic Edamame bean sales are falling.
◆Effects of industrial waste
The area facing the river is designated as a landfill site for industrial waste. The land does not grow any crops. Due to the rain, water that sucked bad soil will flow into the field, causing crop damage.
◆Road Station
Environmental destruction caused by an increase in visitors. Generation of exhaust gas due to an increase in traffic volume. Drainage from the facility, garbage etc.
作業の合間に農業に関する様々なお話を聞かせて頂きました。
◆慢性的な人不足
海外からの労働者はいつか帰ってしまう。定着率の悪さ。若者は増えきているが、現実と理想とのギャップに耐えきれず農業から去る者も多い。
◆農協と関係性
一定の割合で悪い状態の作物は必ず出てしまう。人間が選別している以上仕方がない。しかし、農協はそれを許さない。安値で売り叩かれてしまう。→農家は労働コストを考えながら、より良いものを作らなければならない。
◆冷凍食品が美味しくなってる
ここ最近、冷凍食品の枝豆の味が美味しくなってきている。海外産ではあるが、日本人が監修していることから、日本人向けの味に仕上げてきているそう。国内産の枝豆の売り上げに影響する。
◆産業廃棄物による影響
川に面している地域が、産業廃棄物の埋立地に指定されており、作物が全く育たない土地が増えてきている。雨による影響で、悪い土壌を吸った水がこちらに流れてきてしまい、作物に被害が出る。
◆道の駅
来訪者の増加による環境破壊。交通量増による排ガス。施設から出る排水、ゴミなど。
I used Road Station, so I regretted and changed my mind. Until I came here, I thought the problem of agriculture was weather but I did not know about other circumstances. I learned a lot from listening to these things.
The thing that the environment is more delicate than I thought. Behind the benefits of convenience, we may be sacrificing something.
I felt it was important to know not only the good part of agriculture such as "slow life in the countryside" and "can eat delicious food", but also such aspects.
道の駅を利用していただけに、申し訳ない気持ちでいっぱいでした。ココへ来る前は、農業の問題は天候によって左右されるくらいにしか思っていなかったので、様々な諸事情を聞けて勉強になりました。
環境というものは思った以上に繊細であるということ。便利さという恩恵の裏では、何かを犠牲にしているかもしれないということ。
"田舎でスローライフを""美味しいものが食べられる"などといった良い部分の農業だけではなく、こういった側面を知ることは大切だと感じました。
