3rd Feb, 2018:
Hey guys! Thanks for tuning in to Highway to 100,000 Steem Power.
This is my personal journal that I'll use to keep track of everything and also share my findings about Steemit and life in general. I'll also share my plans, events, meet-ups and other updates here.

Reputation on Steemit:
I had posted day 8 of my Ride De India Travelogue yesterday and that's when I hit 58 reputation. Does it matter to me? Yes. Like I mentioned in my post, I like to keep things neat. So I would love to have a reputation of 60 because, well, it looks neat. You also come across as a genuine commentor. If you are still wondering, it is that small number next to your username. It keeps increasing as you post more quality content and keep getting upvotes.
If you're voted by a whale consistently, it increases rapidly. For example, some authors on Steemit like @fruitydisco with 11 posts still have reputation 25 because they don't consistently get high weight whale votes despite of posting quality content. But there are some users like @coconut who cross 50 reputation just by writing 6 posts because they manage to get whale votes.
This happens because they have connections with the few whales that exist on Steemit right now. This can't be solved unless the SP distribution is equal among users on Steemit. This is happening because Steemit is relatively new and most of the whales are the people who are early joinees and bought Steem while it was dirt cheap.
Things are changing:
The situation however is changing though. Since the beginning of Steemit, many users have been joining and have been posting quality content. This has been helping them earn Steem and SBD. They are users like you and me who started off with 0 Steem. Some of them, including me have been powering up continuously.
This has helped me gain some SP to be able to give votes worth around 40-50 cents. This will only increase and I have been able to make a small difference in people's lives.
So the point is, as more and more people learn the importance of Steem Power and start powering up instead of withdrawing Steem, we will be having better distribution of Steem Power and the community will get better.
How you ask?
Imagine one whale with 100,000 Steem Power votes you. It will make a big difference in your payout. However, 100 minnows with 1 SP votes you, does it make a difference? No. But imagine they all have 1000 Steem Power each and they all vote you with 100% weight. Now does it make a difference? Yes. A huge one.
You will receive the same payout that you would have from one whale vote. Now imagine you have 100 devoted followers. So getting 100 votes is sure shot. What is the probability of posting a high quality article and waiting for that one whale to vote? It is very very low.
My Plans for Steemit.
I have on-boarded few users on Steemit. To name some: @yesaye, @fruitydisco, @tvholic, @roadrunner-blr, @goproman, @backpackingmonk, @its2bhan, @the44nmcaferacer, @chaoticdreamer, @narsi, @littlevoice, @gautambm, @ashwinsaval, and other people who I brought from promoting on my Instagram.
Most of them however posted quality content for a while but left after sometime because they didn't receive anything for their time spent here. If a post even shows 1$, it is enough to boost someone's motivation. They weren't as lucky in terms of support that I have been receiving from you guys on Steemit. Some are still going strong and I will ensure that they have my full support.
I have reduced trying to onboard users for now because of this reason. They don't believe it's possible to be successful in Steemit unless they had joined earlier because they get $0.00 consistently. But I've been motivating some already existing users to keep writing and they have been getting lucky with whale votes a couple of times.
This is the sole reason behind the 100,000 Steem Power Goal:
To bring users on board and to be able to support them enough that they stay on Steemit. This will ensure better adoption. Building up 100,000 Steem Power also helps in earning a stable income that will allow me to work on Steemit full time and help the community.
Minnows, check out @qurator:
I found this community yesterday. It is a group of curators who vote for good, original content. You need to subscribe by making a transfer of 2 SBD and writing your username as memo. They will upvote one post of yours everyday for a month. Go through their rules before signing up.
Steemit Meet Up New Delhi:
Delhi folks, are you listening? Steemit Meet Up Delhi planning is in the works. The location has been decided. It is one of the most popular places in Delhi. Details will be posted soon. Stay tuned to @wandereronwheels and @firepower for more updates.
