Red Leaves at Castle 【Beautiful Japan #27】

One of my favorite places in Okazaki, the city where I have lived for the past dozen or so years, is the castle. Especially in autumn. And looking at this photo... can you blame me?

These bright red Japanese maple leaves are by far the most popular autumn leaf around here and so you do tend to find the everywhere. They are only rivaled by the brilliantly golden ginkgo, which you can see near the top of the photo.

The castle itself is a reconstruction, by the way (see yesterday's photo post), but that wall is an original, making it a few hundred years old. It always amazes me how they built those walls and how well they lasted.
