Today i bring you to a very precious place in Austria, it is the “Neusiedler See” wich is a lake and nationalpark in Austria. It is located in the east of Austria on the border to Hungary. The best time to visit this place for animal and wildlife photography is spring till autumn. In winter you’ll be able to do some great landscape shots. I went there with some of my photography friends in September this year. We enjoyed our trip very much and we stayed in a hostel for some days.

Early start
We really had luck and took a lot of shots from wild Animal and wildlife there. Therefore we had to stand up very early every morning to be at the correct place at sunrise. Because at this time we captured the most interesting scenes and pictures. We had the luck to take pictures of a hunting fox in the morning. Photographers who came there a little later than sunrise couldn’t take these shot. In the early morning before sunset we drove to the hideout where we expected the animals to show up. Half an hour after sunrise we had the luck to capture some shots of a hungry hunting fox. This was at about 05:45 in the morning.

Later in the morning
At about 6:30 in the morning other photographers joined us and we where all awaiting nice Animals to show up. There where a lot of birds looking for some food in the shallow water and the mudd. We told the other photographers that we saw a fox earlier in the morning and they got very jealous. But only the early bird catches a worm. The Neusiedler lake is a paradise for waterbirds because the water in it is very shallow and there is a lot of insects and worms that can be found in the mudd and the shallow parts of the lake.

Shallow water
The hight of the water in Neusiedler See changes every year and this year there was very less water there because of the missing rain in this region. Lets hope next year it will be more rain because if there is so few water for years maybe some animal won’t show up there again. Most of the time we really had luck with the weather, only on one day it was rainy and no animals showed up at all. Because if there is bad weather also the animals minimize their time outside their shelters.
In the Afternoon we left our shelter there and took a trip around the lake with the Car. We drove very slow so we don’t scare any animal away. That’s why we where also able to take some pictures of a rabbit eating gras near the street. We could also take a picture of a bird of prey wich was hunting mice in the nearby winefields. In conclusion we really enjoyed our stay there and we went home with some great pictures. As you might think the fox was my personal highlight.
