Small Gifts
from his
Unconventional Heart
(A Riddle In Rhyme)
Seven verdant winter sweets,
Each kissed with breathy wonder!
Shrill pipes resonate in ranks,
Four shiny drums athunder,
Wave of jade! Steep! Frozen time!,
Recalling winter swells,
For days lay near his beating heart
Where loving friendship dwells.
Word and song, stored bit by bit,
Laid down in troubulous time,
Tracks that number forty four,
And not a few that rhyme.
One Tacupeto chino heart,
Desert cold, and hard,
Soon, soft and warm,
Rests in her hand
Whose spell he cannot ward!
These gifts held close -
For moments, days,
For yearning, soulful hours! -
To heart tres unconventional;
He rarely thinks of flowers!
Small gifts of hope, with open hand,
From one friend to another,
Given joyfully to aid
A friendship, strange, to weather.
For me, poetry is a very sporadic enterprise...
It seems to appear only in response to some strong motivation.
Thanks in advance for interacting with me, I look forward to your comments... ;)
