I just read this post by @philement : Help! Why is it so hard to recruit new active users to Steemit and it has gotten me thinking. I know a few people who would be great on a platform like this. One of which is my brother!
He is tech savy, funny, likes to swim upstream, and is a better writer than anyone I know. He is very active in the Spoken word community and loves creating new content. He has represented London at National Spoken Words competitions.
The only thing is, will he like the platform and will he be an active member? It is always hard to start out as a minnow hoping to get people to view your content and hope for upvotes to build up your steem power. We all know that making friends and finding your niche is a big part of keeping you involved and helps lead to steemit success.
Since the time waiting for your account to be validated is one reason that some new users lose steam when they are excited to start, I am thinking about getting the process started today. That way when we get together next week I can start walking him through the platform.
What else can we do to help make it easier for new users? We can give them some Steem to give them a head start!
So I am going to tell my brother if he sticks with it for at least 10 posts, not only will read and upvote his content but I will also send him some much required steem power.
Again, there is no guarantee that he is going to become an active member but at least I can try!
I challenge you all to try and bring at least one new member to the platform in the new year! Lets call it a Steemit resolution!
I will keep you update on my success of failure with my brother.
