🗞 A Dangerous Bug in Bitcoin’s Lightning Network Has Been Fixed

A popular payments network running atop the bitcoin blockchain suffered from a long-standing code vulnerability – one where attackers could drain users’ of their money.

While initially flagged to the public on Aug. 30 by bitcoin developer Rusty Russell, the full disclosure detailing how this vulnerability could be exploited by an attacker was released Friday.

“An attacker can claim to open a [lighting payments] channel but either not pay to the peer, or not pay the full amount,” Russell wrote in the full disclosure.

🗞 Ethereum’s Gas-Guzzling Suspected Ponzi FairWin Funds at Risk

The biggest Ethereum contract in the industry, dubbed FairWin, is allegedly putting user funds at risk and continues to guzzle a major amount of gas on the network.

Multiple crypto social media users have been analyzing what they believe to be the fastest-growing Ponzi scheme on Ethereum. On Sept. 27, blockchain developer Philippe Castonguay warned:

“The http://FairWin.me Ponzi Scheme contains critical vulnerabilities that put all funds at risk. Spread knowledge (especially in Asia) Users need to withdraw their funds and stop interacting with the contract ASAP.”

🗞 South Korea Welcomes Blockchain-powered Driver’s Licences on Mobiles

South Koreans will soon do away with plastic driver’s license cards – and make use of a blockchain-powered ID solution for smartphones. Or, at least, this is the plan.

The country’s Ministry of Science and ICT has approved a plan whereby all three of the country’s major mobile carriers – SK, KT and LG U+ – will operate an app that stores digitized versions of driver’s licenses on customers’ mobile phones. The South Korean police force has also green-lighted the move.

Drivers will be able to use a new app, named Pass, to scan existing driver’s licenses. These will be approved by police software, and uploaded to a blockchain-powered platform that makes use of police servers.

🗞 When to Sell Bitcoin? ‘Never’ — Mark Yusko Says BTC Like Amazon Stock

Bitcoin (BTC) is a buy and it has never been the right time to sell it, serial investment manager Mark Yusko has told mainstream media viewers.

Yusko on Bitcoin: All indicators rising

Speaking to CNBC in an interview on Sept. 27, the founder, CEO & chief investment officer of Morgan Creek Capital Management compared Bitcoin’s ten-year history to Amazon.

He was responding to concerns from regular cryptocurrency host Melissa Lee over the Bitcoin price, which fell below $8,000 on Thursday.

🗞 Ripple’s Xpring Looks to Build XRP DeFi Products With New Acquisition

Ripple has made its first move towards building decentralized finance (DeFi) products based on XRP.

With its acquisition of decentralized payments platform Logos Network, Ripple’s investment arm, Xpring, will add nine New York-based engineers. Logos founder and CEO Michael Zochowski will become Xpring’s “Head of DeFi Products.” Xpring did not disclose the price of the deal.

Before joining Xpring, Logos was working to build a payments network inspired by the bitcoin blockchain, with a focus on a scalable, rapid network that still maintains high levels of security.

After the important correction that we experienced 2 days ago, the market is slowly stabilizing and preparing for the next move. We should have a break out soon but I think that this break out will be triggered by the move on the BTC also. Let's see what the master (BTC) will do and let's hope we will have a move in the good direction.
