After skipping a week to gallivant around Ireland with a very good friend, I'm back online and delighted to bring you another exciting theme! It's a bit different this time, but different is good. Sometimes the themes are purely fun... other times they require some serious creative thought... Either way it's all good if they serve to bring us together in 'foodship' (friendship) and give us the chance to encounter different dishes, ingredients, cooking styles, and diets. I can't wait to see the entries for this week's theme... just scroll down to find out what it is!
For the winners of the previous round please see this link: "Vegan Dishes From Around The Globe".
For those of you who have never entered this challenge before - it's very easy! We have a different theme each week, and all you have to do is prepare a dish appropriate for the theme, and also ensure you follow the general rules of the challenge (below). You don't have to be a master chef - just try to be creative with your recipes and take beautiful photos, since unfortunately we can't taste the entries so you must help us do this with our imaginations! Original recipes are encouraged, but you may use someone else's recipe as long as you credit the original source.
The guest judge for this week is @shady - wife, mother, and all-round creative crafty lady! She is a fabulous cook and photographer, which you will know if you've come across her blog already... and if you haven't please do have a wee nosey! She has entered this contest many times herself, and has always been very supportive of her fellow contestants, so she has a great personality to compliment a great blog. The food she prepares not only looks wonderful but is healthy too and often unusual, which always makes me want to try it! As a mother she is conscious of her daughter's diet and health, and so the theme she has chosen for us this week is...
For those of you who aren't parents and have no idea what babies can eat, here is a general feeding guide to give you some ideas. This theme is more about nutritional qualities than appearance - though presentation is still important and it should be eye-catching and appealing to infants, not simply slop in a bowl! Hopefully it will get you thinking about how our eating habits begin. Obviously our interest in food starts from a very early age, and as we get used to all kinds of different flavours, textures, smells, etc, we develop preferences that shape our future eating habits and choices. The way our diets begin also have a major affect upon our future maturity in making decisions regarding our own health... whether our choices are based purely on what appeals, our willingness to try new things, or choosing foods because they have a positive and noticeable effect on our health.
