Trick Their Minds into Never Forgetting What You Said

Now that you know how they learn, here's the tips & tricks to get them to do what you want!

Yesterdays Quiz taught you how you learn best, and gave you insight into how to quickly spot the learning styles of your kids, students, employees, and spouse.

Armed with this knowledge you can easily teach the unruly child, get your employee to finally remember how to use that program, and even train your spouse into never forgetting your anniversary.

If they are a Visual learner:

  • They have trouble following verbal directions, and rote memorization will not help. They need to see it.
  • Use photos and images. If you are want your Visual learning child to remember the password, have them look at it while practicing, seeing the letters and numbers will cement it in their mind.
  • Need your husband to pick up bread, milk and eggs? Text him a photo of the grocery store and emojis or pictures of a loaf of bread, a jug of milk, and carton of eggs.
  • Have them close their eyes and picture what they need to remember
  • Telling them the story with vivid, rich imagery is how they retain hearing the information
  • Doodling helps! Have your visual learner remember by drawing quick doodles of it.
  • When giving your Visual learner information, eliminate background distractions- even music

If they are Auditory Learners:

  • Ask them to repeat the info back to you
  • Remind them to repeat the information out loud to themselves throughout the day
  • Phonics and rhyming word games work well with Auditory learners
  • Books on tape and music while learning also works well with these types of learners
  • Have them repeat the information with their eyes closed
  • rote memorization works
  • Send your Auditory spouse important info via audio text messaging

If they are Kinesthetic learners:

  • Providing the info while they are engaged in physical activity helps them remember
  • Touch their arm or shoulder while giving them the info helps cement it in their minds
  • Having them act it out- need them to remember where you put the spare key? Have them physically practice coming home and getting it, all the way to unlocking the door and replacing the key.
  • Art is helpful- have them paint or draw the info they need to remember
  • Toss a tennis ball back with your learner while teaching- the physical activity helps them retain the info
  • Kinesthetic learners learn best by doing. Whenever possible have them do it. You can talk about it all day long, but it will just flow right out and never stick.

Knowing how your people learn will help you gain the most from your teaching time, and ensure their success and your sanity!
