It's time to submit your designs for the 2018 Steem Silver Round, the contest officially opened 2 days ago and we're already getting some designs.
These are the designs from last year.
Design Details
Get your art supplies ready, whatever they are. You can submit any sort of digital art or a sketch, drawing or painting. The art will then be recreated by a sculptor to be transferred onto a coin die, then struck onto a 39mm Silver Round and used at the reverse for this years steem silver round.
There are really no limitations or special requirements for the art, but of course very fine or busy details may be difficult to recreate, also any text used should not be bold or thick as it does increase in size during minting. The mint usually prefers the final files as .PSD or .AI or a high quality png/jpeg, they are unable to open vector files.
You can learn more about this process of turning your art into a coin HERE and HERE in some previous posts.
Please don't hesitate to ask any other questions.
Contest Details
The grand prize is having your art on the coin, but we are also giving Steem Prizes as well.
We will guarantee a First place prize of 30STEEM, second place of 15STEEM and 3rd place of 5STEEM. We do hope to be able to offer additional prizes and that will depend on post payouts and any donations received.
You are welcome to post your designs in comments of any related posts and we will be publishing regular updates, but it is also recommended to make a dedicated post with further details about your design using the tag #steemsilverround.
The deadline for submission is Feb 7th, 2018, they we will host a voting round in a post then to determine the design that will be struck on the round.
Current Designs
Our previous coin designer @bearone has submitted another amazing design for this years contest, she was quick of the hop and I think it's been on a her mind since the last year. I can only image just how amazing it is to see your art reproduced on a coin. You can read her full post with the details, background and process of the design HERE. We'll include a sneak peak below, but she has many more images on her blog.
We received this interesting design from @fat-elvis, his idea was to create and simple round that would be rimless and incuse. For all your non stackers interested in the round; rimless that means it would not a ridge or collar around the outside of the coin like most traditional coins or rounds, while incuse means the design would be struck into the coin surface and not raised like a traditional coin. You can check out his post here and he has also committed to SBD from the post to donate towards to project.
We received a third design was from @meilo1995 with this great recreation of @silvergoldbotty and community voting/follow bot that supports members of the #steemsilvergold community. You can read more about it here, and see the other variation he submitted
Lastly I went and dug up an older post that I remember seeing last year shortly after the 2017 rounds were released. At that time @edxserverus was inspired to create a few potential variations for a future use, well not that's it's the future I felt they deserved a mention here. Here is a link to the old post I also know from speaking with him his is currently working some changes for a proper submissions for this years contest.
Crowd Funding
I just wanted to also remind everyone that we are trying to crowdfund as much of the premium as possible through Steem(it). We are committed to keeping the cost as low as we can for everyone and once again not taking any profits from this project.
@sevinwilson and I are donating the SBD rewards from any posts related to the coin to @steemsilverround. If any one else wants to post about the round, contests, or updates and donate the SBD to @steemsilverround we would really appreciate it!
So far that account has over 42 SBD, and thanks to everyone who has donated.
For those of you who don't know, @raybrockman is one of the most generous guys here on Steemit! He has sold a ton of silver at spot and held tons of contests! Now he's doing another one and giving the proceeds to @steemsilverround to help raise money to help offset the cost of the coin! He is raffling off a 10 oz coin and entries only cost 5 SBD/Steem!!! Even if you don't win, your donation is going to a great cause - @steemsilverround! You can participate in the raffle by visiting HERE
