Food Sharing #53 - Lunch at Funasaka Brewery Ajino Yohei @ Takayama, Japan

Hi Everyone,

While we were in Japan, we found a really nice cozy family friendly restaurant in the Old Town in Takayama, Japan. It was a cold winter day so we needed something to warm us up and we found Funasaka Brewery Ajino Yohei. They have a shop front but also can be found at the back of a store on the main shopping strip at the Old Town in Takayama.

The first thing we noticed when we walked in was the open kitchen. We were led to our table and were given an English and Japanese menu.

What I like about the menu not only it has photos but also a cute description on how to eat certain sets and what it contains in the set - they call it the manual. This will help many people who haven’t tried traditional Japanese food how to eat the meals.

My other half and I both ordered the Hida beef sukiyaki and it just looked like in the picture. That beef was just delicious!

Prices are reasonable considering we are in a popular area but you were being looked after very well. There is plenty of seating and they are family friendly. The restaurant also encourages customers to leave reviews on TripAdvisor so they know their reputation is very important. If you are in Takayama, do stop by and have a meal here.
