Welcome to my Travel Tip edition where I promote some of the most beautiful places, interesting landmarks and impressive architectural sites of my homeland, the Czech Republic.
My today´s post will certainly be appreciated by Steemians who are into hiking, winter sports and outdoor adventures in general as I will take you to the highest mountain range of the country, the Krkonose Mountains.

Located in the north of the Czech Republic, the Krkonose Mountains cover an area of 454 sq km (175 sq mi) on the Czech side and another 177 sq km (68 sq mi) in Poland. There are national parks on both sides of the mountains – the Krkonose National Park in the Czech Republic and the Karkonosze National Park in Poland.

Dominated by Snezka, the highest peak of the Czech Republic (at 1,603 m or 5,259 ft), the Krkonose Mountains boast beautiful and very diverse landscape, ranging from crystal clear glacial lakes and extensive alpine meadows to bare-stone ridges, magnificent waterfalls and treacherous peat bogs.
Winters are very cold and long in the Krkonose Mountains and the snow depth can reach up to 3 m (10 ft). Consequently, this area is one of the most popular winter sport centers in the Czech Republic as well as in Central Europe. Resorts such as Spindleruv Mlyn and Harrachov provide well-maintained slopes that attract hundreds of thousands of skiers every winter.

If you decide to visit the Krkonose Mountains in some other part of the year though, you can choose from even wider variety of activities. There are numerous excellent hiking trails, mountain biking lanes and downhill courses. Visitors can also enjoy horseback riding, climbing, wild swimming, joy flights, mushroom picking and much more.
