Travel Pro Health #5: Saffron

Hey there my Steemit friends today I continue my Travel Pro Health Series. I know this series may be unexpected as much of my work is more about travel, tips, places, and things to do and see. But I can't suppress the urge to share all the Travel Pro me, that I am. That includes my dedication to sharing all knowledge I have for the benefit of everyone.

Over the years of travel I've gained considerable knowledge on health, and how important it is to maintain good health. If you lose your health you lose everything even your life in the end. So there is nothing more important than staying healthy.

While exploring the world, access to different products at different prices can sometimes be a bonus or a burden depending on where you are and what you want. Recently I found myself in Chiang Mai Thailand. I loaded up on all sorts of herbal supplements. I bought 2,000 empty capsules and had a blast seeing what I could fill them with. Today we're talking about Saffron. Known as one of the most expensive spices in the world; I got this packet which made me about 150, 500mg capsules. The packet was 50 baht or about $1.50 US.

Even I couldn't believe how cheap this was. So I did a little research to see if it was fake, as such a thing does exists. To test if it's fake you put a small pinch of it in a glass of water and if the water turns yellowish orange almost immediately it is fake. If it is real the water will turn yellowish orange in about 3-5 minutes.

Turns out my saffron was real, and getting it for that price was just unreal! This is normally the most expensive spice by weight in the world! So taking the time to cram it into the capsules was well worth it. The scissors were used as a cramming device!

Earlier that week I saw Saffron as well as other herbs in the market. I did some research on the health benefits and quickly decided Saffron is absolutely worth taking and I already can feel the health benefits! Saffron boost immunity, stimulates production of disease fighting white blood cells, and increases collagen production making you look and feel younger. It's an anti-oxidant and high in vitamin C. It's high in Iron and there for helps with circulation and the delivery of oxygen all though-out the body and it's organs.

Saffron is high in potassium and manganese making it good for your heart and cardio vascular system while balancing blood sugar. The many different active compounds have been known to relieve mild depression and boost the mood. Some of the compounds in saffron have been known to make the body more bio available to absorbing calcium, hence making your bones stronger and prevent and heal osteoporosis.

Saffron is high in Vitamin B6 which is great for the nervous system and overall energy to get you through the day. The unique and volatile compound safranal has been know to calm people with anxiety, aid in sleep, sooth the mind and body, and is even an analgesic pain reliever.

With over 100 active compounds with-in saffrons complex form, several dozen of them are strong antioxidants, which seek out free radicals giving saffron the ability to prevent and stop the spread of cancer in the body. Saffron soothes the stomach and is a digestive aid. It is also an anti-inflammatory there for is good for a range of illnesses from arthritis to asthma.

With all these great benefits with no side effects how could I not include this into my health regimen. Especially for just a couple dollars! My huge herbal supplement score in Chiang Mai Thailand makes me one happy and healthy Travel Pro! Until next time! -Dan, Steemit's "World Travel Pro!"
