Tree Tuesday

My last post for Tree Tuesday was all about the big tree towering over our little house. Today, I will show you some of the other trees in my yard.
Pretty much opposite to the pine tree, towards that back fence of the property, is this big pecan tree. The nuts are delicious if we can get them. Squirrels, birds, possums, and raccoons all like them too.
When we first moved there, a big pepper tree was dominating that spot. Two white Mulberry trees, the Pecan and an Elm were all growing into one big tangled up mess.
While the pepper tree looked kind of cool, we decided to cut it down to give the fruiting trees a chance. We also pollarded the elm tree - but that is for a different tree post.
In the foreground, you see how the pepper tree keeps trying to come back. It is a constant source of green mulch for now - and eventually hopefully will stop trying to take over the world.
You also see the Mulberry tree has stretched out and filled in nicely. It is a lower tree than the Pecan and we will make sure to keep it that way.
This is what I will harvest right after this post is finished. My dog loves to eat them and she gets very fat when it is white Mulberry season.
One last look at that tree corner taking from the bottle tree. The tall Palm in the background is my neighbors and the home to many rats 🙄
