What I've Been Up To
I attended SteemFest2 and came back with this report: SteemFest²: Bridging the Gap Between Perception and Reality. Quick summary: after directly meeting the development team and hearing first-hand what they are accomplishing, I'm more excited than ever. The vision of "tokenize the web" via Smart Media Tokens became far more clear to me.
I was happy to speak breifly at the Steem Growth Forum hosted by witness @aggroed. You can read a summary of my thoughts here: How Managing Expectations Can Grow the STEEM Ecosystem
I spent a lot of time curating the ChainBB cryptocurrency forum and hiding a few weeks worth of posts which were not helpful. I'm happy to say we're starting to see some valuable engagement there now! If you have some cryptocurrency posts, consider creating them there and you might find yourself with an upvote from me now and again. :) Check it out: https://chainbb.com/f/cryptocurrency
Some of my recent posts I'm proud of:
- Cryptocurrency: the World-Changing Power of an Idea
- Will the Real Bubble Please Stand Up?
(Yes, it's just a meme, but it got as high as #2 on /r/cryptocurrency with 744 points and 18.5k views) - When Will You Join the Cryptocurrency Future?
- How Managing Expectations Can Grow the STEEM Ecosystem
I'm really excited to have tried out @steembay and won one of the very first auctions! I have a 1oz Steem community coin heading my way in the mail right now.
As I mentioned in my last post, I now have two main servers running, one in the US and one in Germany. Since my last report (and before leaving for Lisbon), I got @furion's conductor running so if my active witness server misses a block, it will automatically fail over to my other server.
I put together a monitoring script for my fellow witnesses so they can keep track of the size of their /dev/shm shared memory file. That thing grows pretty quickly as the STEEM blockchain grows, so it's important to keep an eye on it.
My seed node at
steem-seed.lukestokes.info:2001
is still working like a champ.Since it's the first of the month (a good time for economic changes), I updated my APR to 0% since SBD have been consistently trading above the peg lately. You should NOT be converting SBD to STEEM right now or doing full power up posts. Instead, choose 50%/50% and sell your SBD in the internal market for STEEM. That will help level out the price of SBD over time. Current Economic Witness Settings:
SBD APR | Bias | Reg fee |
---|---|---|
0% | 0 | 0.2 |
This month's Witness Engagement Report showed 24.19% engagement for accounts with > 100,000 VESTS.
I've continued to run the Weekly Exchange Transfer Report for 68 weeks now! Check it out every weekend to see who is cashing out and who is buying in.
Thanks again for your encouragement and support!
As of this post, I'm currently (barely) holding position 20!
