Valar was outraged...

There were a number of small camp fires, people laughed,  food and wine were being passed around.

“What the hell are you people thinking?, we could see that smoke a mile away”, barked Valar running into the camp, struggling to catch his breath.

Em ran over and kicked a suspended water pot into the largest of the fires while Valar kicked dirt into another.

Jack, sitting down near a fire received a large dose of the dust caused by Valar's kick.

“Hey…not all of us have your training, you marched us here in a day and it’s starting to getting cold…people need to eat and drink ya know!”.

Valar stopped and looked at Jack, he looked around and the people looked scared..Jack was right, these weren’t troops, they were all probably once just simple farmers, but that was another life!

“Your right Jack, I didn’t say you couldn’t have a fire. But the enemy is not far, so use your brain! we will attack shortly and surprise is our best offense and our best chance to get everyone home safe!”.

Em over hearing the conversation came over to join in.

“It’s ok ya know Jack, no harm done.. but best to be safe and listen to Valar ya ear!”.

Jack  obviously annoyed at this comment got up and responded angrily “What’s happening to you Em,  fallen for the charms of this knight in armour? What the hell are we all doing here anyways, we don’t have a hope! Valar said it  himself”.

“Well just go home Jack!, go ome!” responded Em angrily turning her back on them both and disappearing into the wilderness.

Jack  now red faced and furious approached closer into Valar's personal space “I know  your type Valar, I thought you were alright, but now I know you got a thing for my girl. You and I are gonna see this through after this  battle…Em is mine!”

“We don’t have time for this crap Jack!" replied Valar shoving Jack backwards in response.

"Everyone get yourself ready, we attack in an hour!”
