This is the first article as part of my series on Persuasion as described in the introduction article Raise Your Steem Power Through Persuasion.
The goal is to share with you the lessons of persuasion I have been learning through the Persuasion Reading List put together by Scott Adams.
You came back, which means you have an eye for value. You and I are busy and don’t have time for a book review.
Since this is not High School, know that this is NOT a book report.
We’ve all read @dan’s article about Steemit's Evil Plan for Cryptocurrency World Domination.
Which turns out is for good and not evil…
This article is not The Steem White Paper, however this information about Steem Power (SP) demonstrates why the more of it you have the more Persuasion Power you have here in the #steemitcommunity :
One week is 0.01917808219 that time (7 days / 365 days = 0.01917808219 the time).
As you can see I have $0 Steem Dollars because I converted them to Steem and I have 0.000 Steem because it has not been one week. But once it is there, Power Up to Steem Power to be persuasive with your upvotes!
On with Chapter 2: Stretching your Imagination and the first offering of Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach. The following screen shots are from the 112 pages Scribner edition and being used for EDUCATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY and are subject to the following notice:
With that preface all squared away…The point of including Jonathan Livingston Seagull in the discussion on Persuasion is what impacts it has on your imagination.
Online we can get tunnel vision by filtering what content we do and do not see.To paraphrase a quote I read once on the internet: “Being open to ideas you do not hold or agree to is a way to demonstrate your intellect.”
With that in mind, we may not see eye to eye, but we are civil enough to discuss such things.
The opening of the book shows Jonathan having a dilemma that we #steemians can relate to:
We are told not to fly with our new #steem and that we should focus on base things of this life.
If we are not careful we can be like Jonathan and “nod obediently” and not stand out from the crowd.
We can try to “behave like the other gulls” but we are different.
“But he couldn’t make it work.”
And neither can we. That is why we are here on #steemit.
We have different ideas about how the internet, social media, and cryptocurrency can and should work. The rest of the book journals Jonathan’s flight from the restraints of the common flock.
The lessons for us here on #steemit are the option of:
*Being concerned about the potential loss and fluctuations of Steem Power, Steem Dollars and Steem and get caught up in that circle of doubt
*Open our imaginations to allow the ideas of expanding our thoughts to the greater good and how #steemit will allow us to build a better world, even if it is only one user at a time in our own little (but growing) corner of the internet
