The snail family was threatened by the big bad snake that they will be kicked out of their homes if they dont hunt a juicy moth for him... And nobody in a snail world wants to become a slug
”Psssst, you there.”
Charles turned around but there was no one there.
”Over here, silly,” said a mysterious voice.
”Who’s there?” Asked Charles into the nothingness surrounding him.
At last a snail appeared from behind the dusty spider webs.
”I’m Nino. Have you been tricked by spiders also? Offered to clean their homes and they tricked you into slavery?”
”Yeah, how did you know? I’m Charles, by the way. I’m here with my wife, Cindy.”
”The spiders are hideous creatures. They have their snail friends, sure, but only because they need them to bring more snails into slavery. I’m sure you got recommended by a snail friend, right?”
Charles nodded with agreement.
”Alright, I’ll keep it short because we don’t have much time to talk. If we’re seen talking, not working, we’re dead on the spot. Spiders are the most two-faced creatures there are. They’ll act all kind and understanding, but stab you in the back first chance they get. So even if you try and strike up a deal with them, they’ll seemingly accept it at first, but then make you regret it soon after. They usually just kill whoever comes to this part of the forest, but not us snails. We need to clean their mess. Clean their webs. Get rid of their trash. Do the dirty work, you know? Long gone are the days when spiders were hunters. Now they’re just gluttonous pigs that get their food served on a silver platter. Like you and your wife. Their food and their workforce just walks right into their homes. Free of charge. Talk about being kings of the forest. And last night, that snake? That happens just about weekly around here. They lure young inexperienced snakes here and kill then eat them. But you’re in luck, Charles. Both you and your wife.”
Charles was listening to his newly-made friend with his mouth open and even forgot to respond.
”Charles, are you listening?”
”Yes. Sorry about that, I must’ve zoned out for a moment. But why in luck? This is horrendous!” Said Charles, appalled by what he had heard.
”We’re organizing a mutiny. An attempt to overthrow the dictatorship of the spiders! All of the forest animals are joining in! Well, aside from frogs… But they’re never participating in anything that doesn’t directly involve them. And spiders hate frogs, so they’re safe.”
Nino sighed and took a moment to catch his breath. Charles just looked at him, bedazzled by the information he had been given.
”What… When… What… We’re snails! What can we possibly do?” Finally stuttered Charles.
”I understand you have many questions. And I’ll be happy to answer all of them. But right now we don’t have much time. And yes, we’re snails! And we have the most important task of all! You have most likely noticed that this entire place is built like a goddamn fortress. Webs upon webs of steel-like threads to protect from any outside attacks. Not only are these webs strong as steel, but they’re sticky. They immobilize any air attack by our bird friends, rendering them useless! That’s where we, the snails, step in. We’re the inside men who know this place well. We’re the inside men who open the gates. So what do you say, Charles? Will you help us? Will you help free yourself and your family?”
