Hello hello fellows! Do you like lighthouses? Entry to #architecturalphotography. Colonia del Sacramento Lighthouse.
If you have been following my stories you might have noticed that I'm crazy about lighthouses.
I just can't help but transporting myself into a complete different era. The architeture, their importance to navigation, their history. Everything about lighthouses is just to cool.
This is the lighthouse in Colonia del Sacramento - Uruguay, located to help navigation along the La Plata river coast. I have seen many lighthouses, of all kinds of forms and hights, but this one just catches my eyes by its square shape changing into a classic circular cone. It is dated back to 1857, interestingly it was constructed on top of the old towers of the "Convento de São Francisco", whose ruins can be seen on the picture.
