In this article I share with you the recap of my Art Project #3 : Black & Red Mixed Media Acrylic .
Here the list of the main steps :
- Decopatch (red)
- Structure with masking tape (black)
- Soft transition between red and black with a sponge
- Circles (red)
- 3D element with packing padding (black)
- Bubbles (red) and the final touch with a decofeather (red)
The required material for realizing this canvas :
ā a canvas (in my case 20x20 cm)
ā red acrylic paint
ā black acrylic paint
ā black spray paint
ā paintbrush for painting
ā paintbrush for applying glue
ā palette knife
ā scissors
ā paper tissue
ā transparent glue (mod podge)
ā masking tape
ā hot glue
ā Decopatch paper
ā a piece of packing padding
ā a piece of bubble wrap plastic
ā some round objects (such as empty cheese box and bottle cap)
ā red feather
1. Decopatch (red)
- As a first step, paint an area in red and let it dry.
- Then apply mod podge onto it.
- Place a piece of Decopatch paper on the wet glue and apply another layer of glue.
- When dry, apply a thin layer of red paint over the Decopatch.

2. Structure with masking tape (black)
- Crumple a piece of masking tape and stick it onto the canvas.
- Paint it over with acrylic paint.

3. Soft transition between red and black with a sponge
- With a small sponge and very few paint, dab very very often to realize the soft transition.
Ā
4. Circles (red)
- Place a round object on the canvas.
- Paint with the paintbrush around it .
- Feel free to play with sizes and colours.

5. 3D element with packing padding (black)
- Spray the padding in black.
- Cut it the right size.
- Stick it on the canvas.
- Dab some red paint onto it with a paper tissue.

6. Bubbles (red) and the final touch with a decofeather (red)
- Apply some acrylic paint on some bubble wrap plastic.
- Stamp it onto the canvas.
- Stick the deco feather with hot glue onto the canvas.
