This is our van. It's a 1966 Ford Econoline with an extended cab.
It was custom made for camping. Found it in an old garage in Detroit where it has been sitting for 30 years. (I'll tell you that story soon) Being a vintage market, our van is the perfect representation of our market and you'll find it outside of the show every month.
Living in Chicago's north shore is an experience.
If you don't know, the north shore is north of the city along Lake Michigan. There are some incredibly swanky homes that run from Evanston to Lake Forest.
Because of what we do, living in an area with extreme wealth is awesome. We don't need to leave a 5 mile radius of home to find amazing stuff in sales and estates.
One day, Jim and I were tired of being in the house and decided to check out some of the great Midcentury modern homes in the area. Luckily most people aren't home during the day so they didn't mind we'd pull into their driveway for some great shots of the van and Midcentury!
What's Midcentury Modern? Think 1950's and 60's. Homes and other objects that are designed in a sleek, clean and modern look but totally vintage. So many had their homes designed and custom made by great Chicago architects.
Here's the thing about my husband. He gets very nervous about things like not being ready to order at the drive through. Or like pulling up in people's driveways to take pics of a stranger's home.
I have no problem with that, so many of these were taken in a split second, then we ran away!
He'd screech out of the driveway, whip the side door open and I'd jump in ;)
Enjoy the tour!
