This Year, ACHIEVE Your New Year Resolutions! Here's How:

A close friend of mine makes the same resolution on every New Year - to lose excess weight and become his ideal weight by the third quarter of the year. He decides to start exercising and eat less but 2 weeks into the new year he has already given up.

Countless number of people go through the same experience at this time if the year, but unfortunately a minuscule number actually see through resolutions to their ultimate goals.

First and foremost a goal should be realistic and achievable. I have observed people weighing over 200 pounds making goals to be their ideal weight in six months or a year. It is not possible to achieve a weight loss of more than a few pounds each week. Losing 2 pounds in a week would be achievable. Whatever be the goal make sure that you can achieve it easily or a with a reasonable amount of effort. Anything that is too hard would most probably be abandoned in a few weeks.

Going public with your resolutions is also a great way of ensuring that you have a high chance of meeting your goals. Put it out on Facebook or Twitter so that people see it and respond to it with encouragement. You will feel that your reputation is at stake and create enough pressure within yourself to achieve your resolutions. Your resolve will increase when you will realize that not achieving your resolutions might mean that you may not be taken seriously in the future. On the other hand if you go public with your resolutions and manage to achieve them it will be a great boost to your credibility.

One thing that people miss out on is planning the achievement of their resolutions. Most get bogged down too much to see their goals through. If you plan to hit the gym in the morning before you go to office on week days you will have a higher chance of succeeding than if you didn't plan anything at all on how to go about it.

Being clear on what would be the acceptable exceptions should be done at the very beginning preferably at the time of making the resolutions. It may be one thing if you make an exception to going to the gym if you're sick, but if a slight drizzle stops you it shouldn't be acceptable. Treat it like a long term plan and foresee times when you might be travelling or busy at important personal or official events.

The power of visualization has been underrated. See yourself in your mind after you have lost weight, or imagine that you have what you resolved to achieve in your resolution. Keep visualizing regularly and you will be pleasantly surprised with the results. Not only do you feel good to imagine your achievements but it conveys what you want to the universe and has higher chances of happening.

If you haven't made your resolutions what are you waiting for! Use these tips while making them, and you will succeed!

Wish everyone a Happy New Year and have a great 2018!!
