The First Atomic Swap Between Ethereum and Bitcoin
Altcoin Exchange, a decentralized cryptocurrency trading platform has recently announced that they performed the first atomic swap between Bitcoin and Ethereum blockchains.
This is the exchange's first step towards their goal to create a trustless exchange process.
Atomic Swap allows two parties to create trustless transactions between two blockchains without counterparty risk.
It is currently one of the hot topics in the industry and only a few blockchains have exchanged this way with Bitcoin such as Litecoin, Vertcoin and Decred.
For the very first time, the Altcoin Exchange team has performed the Ethereum – Bitcoin atomic swap.
They were able to transfer 0.12345 ETH for 0.12345 BTC using an on-chain open-source process.
They will be launching the Github repository of the project on October 10, 2017.
Coinbase Announced Bitcoin Segwit2x Hard Fork is Closing In and will include Both Blockchains
Coinbase has recently released an update about the Segwit2x hard fork where it will be supporting both blockchains after the could-be split.
The platform and wallet provider stated that they are letting the users and customers know that their main goal is to ensure the trust and safety within the ecosystem and that users do not need to take any action during the event.
They assured their users that their funds are secured and safe on Coinbase before, during and after the hard fork.
Users will be able to have access on both blockchains once they have determined each blockchain is safe and stable which is expected may happen a few days after the fork and may take longer if additional risks emerge.
However, there are no details yet about how will each fork be named and which fork has the right to be called Bitcoin.
