Today I created a Steemit Ramble Discord server. After giving the nomination process some thought I decided that it was time to get this going. The link to join the discord is in the nomination area near the bottom of the post.
There is a Nominate-A-Post channel where you nominate someone else’s post that you particularly like. Once you’ve done that and it is within the rules of the channel, then you’ll become a Nominator and be able to post your posts in the Nominators-Only channel.
I’ll for sure look at the posts in the Nominate-A-Post channel and in the Nominators-Only channel. There is a Promote-Any-Post-Here channel that is very unlikely I will look in much.
Receiving nominations helps me cut through the chaff that is becoming so prevalent on Steemit. So, by helping me, I’ll be happy to have a look at your post and consider it as well.
Onward to today’s rambling
Time For A Change - Steemit Blogger's Central Is Moving To Discord Today!
Discord is rapidly becoming the chat server to be on for Steemit related chats. It is user friendly, stable and has built in voice and chat communication.
Steemit Blogger Central is a bit different in that they are bringing some different content topics under one roof with each channel moderated by the resident ‘expert’. Drop by and have a look.
Travel w/bitdollar: CASA LOMA the Majestic Castle - Toronto, ON
Being an Ontarian, I have been familiar with Casa Loma most of my life but, like @bitdollar, I have never visited the castle. Many schools have class trips to the castle but never seemed to be one of the classes I was in. @bitdollar has done a great job of providing a tour without being there.
What Happens When An Animal Dies At A Zoo/Aquarium?
@herpetologyguy takes a bit of a different take on exploring a Zoo or Aquarium. They house living animals and marine life. Where there is life, there is inevitably death. He shares with us what leads to death and what happens when one of their residents die.
A Reflection on Trauma
This post is written by @camposmusing, a new member on Steemit. The post is raw in that she doesn’t hold back on what she went through. Takes a lot of courage to write like that and write well.
SteemConnect 2.0: Easy, Fast, Efficient Access to the Steem Blockchain
If you haven’t heard of Steem Connect, you are going to. Steemit today announced they have partnered with the people at Busy.org to integrate Steem Connect even more into the platform. Steem Connect will enable people to connect with other STEEM apps without having to give up their keys to unknown parties.
A Year Of Progress - How Getting My Own Place Helped My Mental Health
@ayshbanaysh posts about how finding a place of her own and getting out on her own has helped her cope with her personal mental health issues. Well done for her.
NASA celebrates 40 years of Voyager missions with posters of great beauty
@nunojesus shares some posters from the Voyager missions. Always interested in a look back in time
New Release of DTube 0.2 for Steemit - A Conversation with DTube Creator @heimindanger
@terrybrock discusses dTube with its creator @heimindanger. While I’m not big on video and only rarely actually listen to one, it is very popular with a lot of people.
YouTube has its issues with some people finding their accounts gone or limited without warning. Typical Google thing. DTube is the blockchain YouTube without censorship.
I’ve seen people object because the project does get a commission from each video’s earnings. I don’t know that I see that as any more of an issue than content creators sharing a portion of a post’s earnings with the curators. It’s still more then would be received on other social media sites.
HardFork Film Series - Weekly Progress Update
The Hardfork Film Series is a project underway with several Steemians involved. I shared the original announcement post but hadn’t noticed any updates until now. The team is hard at work, I’ll leave it for them to tell you in their update.
An artificially described perfect world
@tarazkp proposes some interesting thought. An AI supercomputer with no knowledge except the description of a perfect global society. Then send that computer into the world to access and analyze the world’s store of knowledge. What would the end result be? What sort of world world would the computer want to shape?
Suspend your disbelief and scepticism and give some thought to possibilities.
Moral Decline Kills Nations
@ajdohmen writes about his experience on another site being censored because the story he posted touches on his personal beliefs in God. At the same time, this same site allows posts that truly be objectionable to many people in a civilized society. I know there are some who object to religion on many grounds, but overall, religion provides a moral compass for a wide swath of the world’s population. It makes one wonder just how upside down we’re going to go before turning things back to a more sane level.
Marvelous Tales Contest #12: My Dad's Rumor
It often amazes me how a spouse can be hurt and betrayed by the other but still seek to avoid facing the reality of what has happened. @lordmok has beautifully illustrated this spousal denial in his story about children able to accept the reality dad can’t but realizing dad needs his denial.
Wrap-up on Day 117
Well, it took a lot of filtering today but I found some posts I could really enjoy. Hope you do too. If you get a chance, stop by the new discord and say hello. Don’t forget to bring your favourite read of the day along for me to check out for tomorrow’s Ramble.
Supporting and Upvoting
Let’s not forget folks. I’m sharing these posts not only because I like them. I’d really like to see them get support and upvoting.
Nominate Your Favourite Post
With all the chaff that I end up trying to sift through each time I sit down to do the Steemit Ramble, I think it is time to give you dear reader an opportunity to nominate your favourite reads.
Just visit the Steemit Ramble Discord and post the link in the Nominate-A-Post Channel.
As much as you may love your own post, I am really looking for someone else to say, “Hey, I like this post, have a look”. When I post a Steemit Ramble, that is what I’m telling my readers.
Once you’ve shared someone else’s post, you’ll be given access to a channel where you can share your own posts for me to consider them. It’s only fair for you to have the chance.
Please Join the Curation Trail
