This is my entry of @helene’s Drawing Challenge #4 and this week’s theme is card for your teacher.
There are many teachers I want to say thank you. Some of them are really great that not only teaching knowledges, also how to be a good person.
The character is me, and equipped by elements of subjects I had mostly in primary and secondary schools. It is the most representable way of school life.
這是我的 Helene’s Drawing Challenge第四回的參加作品。這星期的題目是《給老師畫個賀卡》。
學生生涯以來，有很多想跟他們說多謝的老師。他們不單只教會了我很多知識，也教學做人。
畫中的就是中學生的我，身上裝備了各種各樣在中小學學習過的課目。中小學生的樣子比較有代表性，所以就選這個型像來做主題了～
Outline. 起稿
Besides, the subjects I studied. There is a little owl on the shoulder. In the Western culture, owl is a symbol of wisdom. The most well-known one is owl of Athena in Greek mythology.
However, in Chinese culture, owl is associated with bad things, like dark betrayal and death. They active at night, like eating dead meat are the main reason. In old literature, they even eat the dead body of their mother. hm…
除了所讀過的科目，還有在肩上小小的一隻貓頭鷹。在西方文化中，牠是智慧的象徵。最為人所知的應該是智慧女神雅典娜的貓頭鷹了。
不過，在中國文化裡，牠是不祥的動物。因為牠夜行、喜吃腐肉，在古文中還有記載牠還會吃自己的母親。哎呀......
Coloring. 上色
Start from the body. Can you guess what are the subjects I am drawing here? The yellow grid and transform into cerulean blue, with some blanks. The blanks are easy to guess right?
從身體中間部份開始。你猜到這裡包含了哪兩種科目嗎？黃色漸變到蔚藍色，中間有幾片留白。留白的部份比較易猜吧？
Then, the base color in brown of the owl body. And my payne grey hair.
About hair. My secondary school required all lower forms to have hair cut to medium or short hair. Long hair is allowed to higher form, the last 2 years of secondary school life. I was long hair till entering the school. I was hurt deeply by this rule, lol
Fill in the blank with green. I think most of you guess it right. This is geography. And the triangle meter, volleyball and recorder.
然後，填上佩恩灰髮色。還記得初中時，學校要低年級同學都剪短髮，最長也只可以及肩。高中畢業前兩年才可以留長頭髮。一直是長頭髮的我傷害甚深（笑）
然後空白的地方填上綠色，我想沒有人會猜錯吧？是地圖，是地理科的代表物件。然後也填上了三角尺、排球和牧童笛。
The details of armor. (But later changed with reason) Both Chinese and Western style. They represent the Chinese history and World history lesson. The hat represent cookery.
Background with light yellow with large amount of water. This is the color of the note book and paper of school.
之後是上半身和肩膀的盔甲。肩部是西式而胸部是中式。不過之後有錯誤又改了一改。而頭頂則是廚師帽，我的家政課主要都是教授烹任和營養學。
背景用大量水調開的淺黃。這是學校作業本和筆記紙的顏色。
Background and fine tune. 背景和修飾
Adding the cerulean blue lines, a note paper is finished. As a art side students, this kind of line paper is the most frequently used.
蔚藍色的横線，完成了筆記紙。文科生的我，大多數的時間都是對著這筆記紙寫作業和筆記，埋頭苦戰。
The original idea of the cloth is the Jade burial suit because I want to do a transform by the grid. What I forget is that it is for the death= = hm…. Although it is beautiful and one of the significant in Chinese history lesson, I did a little research and changed it into Qin Dynasty style armor… (Luckily, long history with so many style of armor I can choose, lol)
The character seems stick with the background. I add a little drop shadow like outline the make it pop up.
開始時我想畫的是金縷玉衣，因為意念上是想用格子來做出地圖的漸變。但我忘記了它是死人的衣服xDD 好像不太好吧，雖然它很美。所以資料搜集了一下，強行改裝成為秦式盔甲了。（呼，幸好歷史夠長，款式多）
主角好像跟背景融在一起，不特出。所以加了一圈像陰影效果的外框，把它突顯出來。
To most of us, large part of childhood and teenage time is spent in school. Teacher play a very important role and thank you for all wholehearted teachers. The teachers (and also students) are stressful by heavy work load and the intensive education system. Although I am not a student now, do not have kid, still want to say thank you to them.

我們的孩童和少年時期有絕大部分的時間都在學校度過。老師在每個人的成長過程中是一個不何忽視的存在。而我慶幸遇到很多很好的老師。在香港，教師都面對很大的工作量和壓力。縱使我已經不是學生，也沒有小孩在上學，還是對現在的老師致上敬意。
