Chapter 13: Jam

Time for school! The first day of school came for Max and Maree. Maree yawned. Her and Max had been subjected to two days straight of watching the primitive holo-screen to learn how to behave at school followed by one day of running around getting one of those bag things the young people on the primitive holo-screen had and getting stuff like various writing elements they learned from the labels on the shelves were pens and pencils, crayons and textas. They also had the meeting at Maree’s school once the principal contacted them. ‘That was easy enough’ she thought, ‘I had that completely under control.’ Max walked to his own school and Bella and Jack walked and crutched Maree to her school. Liam slept in Bella’s arms.

Maree went into her school. Her principal had shown her where her classroom was. She went in and a female came up to her.
“Hi” said Maree.
“Hello, are you Maree?” said the lady, “I am your teacher, Mrs Henrison.”
“Yes I am Maree” said Maree.
Mrs Henrison showed Maree where to put her bag and showed her where she will be seated.

Jack and Bella walked and limped home again. Liam woke up on the way. He looked at them and then around him.
“So I don’t even get any notice when I’m going somewhere now?” demanded Liam, “I just get carried around like a pet?”
“Looks like someone is a bit cranky and tired” said Bella and she blurted on Liam’s belly. Liam giggled.
“Hey stop that” he yelled before giggling again.
“Hey, I’m serious” demanding Liam, laughing, “I have some dignity.” He positively cackled.
“I have dignity. I can’t just be carried” argued Liam before bursting out in chuckles.
“Stop” he screamed.
“Stop” screamed Jack, “For Saturn’s sake, if Liam keeps talking people will work out we are aliens.”
“Well they will if you yell it like you just did” snapped Bella. She did stop blurting though.
“However, you are correct” said Bella, “I will stop.”
“Good” said Liam and he frowned at Bella.
Bella smiled. That frown was so adorable. It reminded her of infantile Banbazoidians. They would get so worked up over the tiniest thing and their angry serious looks were just so adorable. It was so serious to them but a mature Banbaziodian could just not take them seriously like that. You could just consume them right up.
“Oh I could just inject you into me like nutrition, Liam” said Bella, “You can be so cute.”
“Stop talking like this” said Jack.
“I’m not cute” said Liam quietly, “I am a respectful businessman.”
“Okay” said Bella. They walked and crutched the rest of the way home.

#aaaaaayyyyy

It was lunch time at Max’s new school. It had been a good day. Sara was in his class. He glanced at her and he was sure she glanced back. Now he was in the area where nutrition is consumed which is outside but has a long piece of cloth type stuff over the top of it supposedly to block out the sun. He saw a machine full of liquid nutrition and then saw Sara in a group of people near it.
‘Here is my opportunity to impress her using the knowledge the primitive holo-screen gave me.’ thought Max, ‘I’ll look like the guy on the tv’. Max walked over to the machine full of liquid nutrition and elbowed it. He then gasped and grabbed his elbow.
“Ow” he said. Then he noticed Sara and the other people staring at him. He quickly let go of his arm and then stuck his thumbs up and said “Aaaaaayyyyy”. The people continued to stare at him. Sara giggled and walked up to him.
“That is the worst impression of the Fonz I have ever seen” she laughed. Everyone else started to walk off.
“So, you enjoying your first day?” asked Sara.
“Yeah, it’s alright” said Max, rubbing his elbow.
“Yeah, well of course it can only be alright” replied Sara, “It is school.”
“Yeah” laughed Max nervously.

A male walked up to them. Max looked at him coming and Sara turned around.
“Sara” said the male when he got closer, “Who’s this?”
“He’s a new guy” said Sara, “His name is Max.”
“Well Max” said the male, “You seemed to be trying to impress my girlfriend with that pathetic impression of yours. You had better keep away from her okay? She belongs to me.”
Max felt rage bubble up inside of him. He stared at the male.
“She belongs to no one” said Max. The male snorted.
“She belongs to me” he said, “That’s it. You and me. Right here, right now.”
“What?” asked Max.
“A fight you dunderhead” said the male, “She belongs to me and no one can tell me otherwise.” He grabbed Max’s shirt by the collar and pulled Max towards his face.
“How do you feel about trying to get my girlfriend’s attention now?” asked the male.
“Like I’m in a jam between an asteroid and a hard place” whimpered Max.
“Asteroid” said the male, “Oh God, it was even a science nerd trying to get my girlfriend. She is mine okay?”
“She doesn’t belong to you” stated Max again and then he thought ‘why did I do that? This guy is going to throttle me.’

Next thing Max knew, he was on the ground with a sore head. He looked up and saw another girl looking down at him. Her brown eyes seemed to bore into him as she looked down in concern.
“What happened?” Max finally choked out.
“You got punched by Jason” said the girl. She helped him up. Soon, Max found himself sitting in an office near Jason with the principal at the desk. He sighed as he found out they were going to call Jack and Bella and tell them he had been in a fight. Jason had exaggerated Max’s part in the fight.
‘Oh Neptune’ thought Max, ‘In trouble on my first day of Earth school. Great!”
