Belgian Jupiler League Week 7 Roundup

A weekly recap with all the latest on team news, player form, injuries, betting angles, ...

Club Brugge vs KV Mechelen 2-0

Club Brugge
The home team now are 64 matches in a row with at least 1 goal scored in their home matches. This was by no means an overish match though. Club Brugge were the better team as expected at home without impressing. It's still showing that this team has not yet adjusted to the new system under Leko specially in the 2nd half when they were not playing as a team. They are still on my potential fade list.
KV Mechelen
They are still within my valuation of being just a little bit too weak overall taking points because of their excellent mentality. I also added an underish trend (2 over - 5 Under) as they have a difficult time to score while never really getting blown away getting a lot of goals against. I do expect them to start winning some matches in the near future.

Kortrijk vs Anderlecht 2-2

Kortrijk
This team is still on my list of being potentially undervalued. They have played quite good so far in each of their matches this season. They could have lost this match because of a late penalty that was not given for Anderlecht.
Anderlecht
Lots of drama this week. When they scored the 0-1 the fans were singing to get their coach fired because level of play has been Anderlecht unworthy for a long time in the league which again was the case in this match. There is no real problem with the mentality, but not 1 player is in excellent form to make the difference and they don't really have a recognisable system. Coach weiler left or was fired this week and Interim coach Frutos took over. Similar picture was seen during the cup match. pressure from Anderlecht, but lower league defense holding up without many problems. Weiler was a very underish away coach which might change now with ex-striker Frutos in charge. This team needs someone to stand up and reach peak form to make a difference.

Charleroi vs Waasland 2-2

Charleroi
The match started out without much risk and Charleroi the slightly better team. The start of the 2nd half was also boring until the point the first goal was scored after which 3 more followed with Charleroi giving away a 2-0 lead late. Charleroi continue being a difficult opponent but are not undervalued because of the current standings. The spots I will be looking out for is the under or under if they score the 1st goal and a fade when they get behind and have to leave spaces late in the match.

Waasland

They are still on my undervalued and potential over list despite the close handicap cover in this match. Morioka is still a key player and this will be a different team when he's not in it, so I will be looking out for that.

Lokeren vs Antwerp 1-1

Lokeren
Another match where my notes say "boring boring boring". The 0-1 came on the first chance from Antwerp. Lokeren put pressure in the 2nd half and scored the 1-1
Antwerp
Antwerp again with a defensive block and I'll be looking for sports to bet under if they score the first goal as they will build a wall to defend the lead. When behind I still expect these matches to become wide open with late goals.

Sint-Truiden vs Genk 2-1

Sint-truiden
The home team are continuing their good run thanks to not getting too much opposition from the visitors. The question is how long this run will continue as I doubt it will. I do tend to wait to oppose these type of situations until they start talking about reaching Playoff 1 or when the streak is broken.
Genk
They are starting to get into the danger zone. The valuation remains unchanged for me. Watch the match live and bet short term what you see. If they reach their potential level it is an easy bet and if they are nowhere it's an easy fade. Since things can change in 2nd half compared to 1st half, I will always opt for HT lines if possible. I also took notes that Racing Genk are not a team to keep clean sheets, so overs are a potential live bet.

Zulte-Waregem vs Moeskroen 2-1

Zulte-Waregem
My valuation of this team has dropped from undervalued to neutral/overvalued since they seem to have a very hard time to keep a clean sheet. They looked vulnerable in the cup match against lower league which was played with an A-squad. Overs are even more on my radar now with De Fauw and Deryck out. They remain one of the more interesting teams for live betting. They also played a lot better in the 2nd half when going towards their own fans.
Moeskroen
Moeskroen played on the counter against an attacking Zulte-Waregem and scored 0-1 on their first change and could have made 0-2 before HT. They did get dominated in the 2nd half and lost the match in the end. This breaks their winning streak which forces me to wait live to potentially back them at home against Eupen.

Oostende vs AA Gent 0-2

Oostende
Things are looking very much towards this being a transition season for Oostende. Reaching playoff 1 will be nearly impossible. Coach Vanderhaeghe was fired in the hope for a shock effect. Striker Gano seems not to be good enough and they have something of a scoring problem so unders are an option.
AA Gent
They took their first win of the season, but are not yet in the clear zone as play still was far from good. They are on their way though and I will be closely watching out to catch their potential rise in the standings. Expensive striker Andrijasevic does seem to be a bad buy as it is openly being said that people don't understand why they payed so much for this player. I talked about one of my favorite livebetting spots in my weekly results post. It is something that will always be on my radar in this type over evenly matched games.

Eupen vs Standard 1-1

Eupen
This was a match between the worst defense (Eupen) against the worst offense (Standard). The match was quite open after the 1-0 but without any chances. The big pressure from standard payed off in the first half and the scored the deserved 1-1. Eupen are not in the best spot right now and they are for sure on my fade list since they seem to be unable to keep the clean sheet. They tend to start the match defensively but always open up eventually which makes live overs an option.
Standard
My valuation of Standard remains unchanged. They heavily rely on their grinta and fighting spirit which is absolutely present. They are unable to create real big chances as a team and rely on mpoku for individual action to score a goal. I will be looking for a spot for their grinta to be broken down after getting behind which might get punished by multiple goals against.
