Drawing like a pro - 14, make your own "super ruler" (Power up 100%)

Hi friends!

Today I want to talk to you about one of my favourite tools.
I like it because is made by myself, it's very cheap and absolutely useful.
I'm talking about my very special rule. I use it to draw straight lines and also to take measurements.

How to make it?

Take a sheet of A4 office paper or a drawing sheet and fold it twice as shown in the images.

First fold

Second fold

When you make your own tools and they are useful, you take a special affection for them. I think this could be the case. You will see how useful this ruler can be.

This is your new rule!

How to use it?

We assume that we are doing a sketch or an artistic drawing (not technical).
The advantage of using this ruler is that the lines you will draw will be smooth, like a freehand-drawn line, not hard like those we draw using a plastic ruler or a metal ruler.
Don't forget how to hold the pencil when you make the strokes; do it as I have explained in Drawing like a pro - 5, it's very important for making beautiful strokes.

All the lines drawn here, in this sketch, were drawn freehand first and then redrawn using the paper ruler.

In drawing or artistic sketching, you will always need to take measurements, but you will not measure in cm, inches or anything like that (except in technical drawing).
Measurements will be related to your own drawing.
For example, one side of your drawing is twice, triple, or half the size of the other side; or the height is five times its base in a certain object you drew.
Or at some point, you will need to split a line into multiple equal parts...etc.
So in many situations like these, the paper ruler will come in very handy because it is as simple as making marks on it.
