I was at the 1776 Freedom March last week, and I damn near did not complete the March portion of the day; I went to film the event, and even before the march started, I had missed filming one speaker due to back spasms.
I'm the stupid guy wearing all black on July 1 in Texas in this pic LOL
I have noted before in this series there is a personal price to pay in waging Information War...this price is paid in harsher terms when you start your battle and are unprepared to finish it.
Poor Physical Health Leads to Poor Mental Health
The list of effects from poor nutrition and lack of exercise is seemingly endless. Both generally result in considerable weight gain, which puts you at risk for a myriad of health problems, whether physical, mental or emotional
The Effects of Poor Nutrition & Lack of Exercise
Poor physical health brings an increased risk of depression
The Relationship Between Mental and Physical Health
Remember, in Part Six, I discuss the emotional burden that participating in Information War places on you; poor physical health is going to increase that burden!
Too Much Time on Computer
Information War, for most folks, is going to demand a lot of time in front of the Blue Screen of Slow Death...your computer. Reading, researching, writing, and spreading information takes hours of time spent sitting at a desk and staring at that screen.
Some of the risk factors are listed for long periods of computer use, aned these don't even include lack of exercise, lack of exposure to sunlight, and exposure to blue light...a factor which all by itself leads to sleep problems...and which in turn hurts physical health. There are also The Effects of Computer Use on Eye Health and Vision.
There are links between too much computer use and being a lazy fatass (my words, not the researchers')
researchers establish a direct connection between spikes in technology adoption and subsequent increases in obesity rates.
Breitbart may have actually died as the result of a heart attack; the preeminent American Information Warrior lost his war due to poor health!
These Problems Reinforce Each Other
- Lack of sleep leads to over eating
- Over eating and depression lead to a vicious cycle, and a second link
- How Sitting Too Much Is Making Us Sick and Fat
- Your Emotions Affect Your Health
Focus and Emotional Health
Mental focus is critical in Information War; Information War relies on critical thinking and complex analysis. You can not do a good job on these things when you do not have focus. Poor physical and poor emotional health cripple your ability to focus:
- You do not complete arguments
- You do not write clearly
- You do not defend your positions fully
Change the you to I, and you can see so how much my own writing has suffered ;>
You are also subject to anger; the more unhealthy you are, the more subject to loss of emotional control. Anger can sharpen your focus, but it can also force bad decision-making. Insulting folks instead of debating them, using binary thinking instead of critical analysis, and losing track of major points to argue inconsequential ones are all the results of anger on your thinking. This become more likely the unhealthier that you are.
Don't be this guy LOL
Off the Computer Modes of Information War.
Other issues can affect your health, and ability to wage Information War. Older men lose testosterone, which has it's own health effects. But this question goes beyond one cause.
At the start of this article. I described my own poor health and it's interference with my own performance in filming. Taking video to share for propaganda is an off computer activity that requires physical resilience. Taking part in a march requires physical resilience. Having the energy to organize or attend meetings requires physical resilience
too fat to make a difference? it's never to late to try and fix things
Conclusion
Do what you can while you can do it. If you're too fat to go to a march, you're not too fat to start working on your health. You are never too fat to be a keyboard warrior. You can be a keyboard warrior AND work on getting into better shape.
If you are depressed, you are never too depressed to want to stop being depressed.
Rome wasn't built in a day...these are not easy things to overcome. If they were, then no one would have these problems.
YOU can start working on these issues, even if you never overcome them completely, you can still be better tomorrow than you are today!
And even if you are in good shape, and you can focus like a laser, it never hurts to improve your game!
