Ladies of Steemit, Volume 10 | Women of Faith

ladies-of-steemit-banner-10.jpg

Happy Wednesday, and Easter Week to those celebrating! At Ladies of Steemit, we take pride in showcasing all female voices + subject matters on the blockchain. While we in no way identify with any secular ideology, we have found a lack of overall support and curation of the religious community on Steemit.

From a personal perspective, a majority of religion-focused content we've seen in previous browsings has been stereotypically mysoginistic, judgmental, narrow, dogmatic, and otherwise exclusory. We wanted to look beyond the first impression and find the gold hidden between the bars.

These four female authors take their faith into their own hands and their own words - on their own terms.

Whether you have your bible in-hand or you have zero interest in celebrating a holiday outside your personal beliefs, I encourage you to experience the diverse and eloquently elaborated perspectives of these women of faith.

We are proud to showcase...

@sukhasanasister

is a broadly-versed and intimately personal essayist whose writing on all subjects has captured our attention. Whether she reflects on her personal experience with anger or explores the purpose of religion, she brings a raw, authentic voice that is at once relatable and thought-provoking.

sukhasana

We encourage you to read her introduction post and to take with you this passage from it:

I am a mother, sister, daughter of the autistically afflicted. Lord only knows what ails me.

These writings are in response to the final breakdown in communication that occurs nine out of ten times, sometimes more and sometimes less permanently in relationships with people suffering from so called high-functioning autism, the most disconcerting mental disorder currently pervading humanity. I have developed some fairly controversial - if merely preliminary - esoteric ideas on autism which are almost imposssible to share where a common metaphysical language is not available. and a modicum of training of the spiritual organs of perception has not taken place.

Holy Week: Miércoles - Mittwoch : Mercurial Mid-point

In this post, @sukhasanasister brings our attention to a detail that must be so easily overlooked: the scent of this time for Jesus and his followers. Scent and our environments effect on individual senses are immensely relevant to memories, connection of concepts in hindsight, and in a rich immesion to a time long-gone.

A short excerpt:

My house smells of Jatamansi (Nardostachys), aka Spikenard or just "Nard". This is the costly herb (resin extracted from the root) Mary Magdalen used to annoint the feet of the Christ during the before-last supper, when the disciples gathered at Lazarus-John's house (one and the same character from a very important esoteric perspective).

The Passion Week.

In this post, Seyiodus gives a general overview of this week's historical events with relation biblical record. For those unfamiliar with the full course of Easter week, this post is a wonderful primer.

A short excerpt:

Hello everyone. First of all, I want to say happy Palm Sunday to all and I wish us the best of the passion week, and the season of Easter!

Today I will be listing what The Passion Week is. What each day was when Jesus was on earth.

These are what happened in the week of Passion. After all these happenings till the death of Jesus, after the third day, Jesus rose up and reign forever. Praise be to God. Amen.

This week is incredibly important in the realm of Christianity, and Seyiodus goes beyond church attendance and ritual service and writes daily about this holy week's impact on her life.

@nayomie

The Story Of Bartimeus

In this post, @nayomie gives a personal commentary on a seemingly popular story from the bible. Unfamiliar with this story, I found it rather poignant, as we Steemians are often encountered by the "crowd" who sees what we're doing on the platform and denounces it as a waste, as something that won't last. But, should we finally get our lambo to the moon, everyone wants to be in the passenger seat...

And yet, we continue anyway because we have faith in the blockchain.

A short excerpt:

Beware Of The Crowd

Today we are looking at a part of the story of Bartimeus, a blind man who wanted healing from the great miracle worker Jesus Christ. Bartimeus had no doubt heard about the healing power of Jesus.

So when He heard that Jesus was passing by, He cried out “Jesus, thou son of David, have mercy on me”.

The crowd following Jesus tried to shut Bartimeus down; possibly with discouraging words like: Jesus have no time for .you, shut up etc. But he cried the more, such that Jesus asked him to be called.

SteemChurch: The importance of music

In this post, @jenniferbrito examines a topic that has historically caused religious debate, especially in early secular communities: music.

A short excerpt:

The first element about the meaning and value of music in Christianity is in the pages of the Bible itself. The fact that there is a book called Psalms gives a more accurate idea of the musical importance in praising God. There are innumerable passages in the Bible in which music is mentioned as a manifestation of faith and adoration of the Lord.
