What with whale warriors, flagging ayatollahs & unthinking thought experimenters, ad hominiem oriented analyst & a community with adolescent median EQ, it's useful to remember that today is still a wonderful day.
The emotionally supercharged Steemit network amplifies:
Taking ourselves too seriously.
Forgetting how to laugh.
Losing the gift of being able to laugh at ourselves.
Forgetting the fun.
Discounting the people.
Viewing every action by someone else through a defend/attack prism.
Floating Middle Eastern & Pakistani type conspiracy theories.
Expressions of naked jealousy.
And so on....
We were blessed & fortunate that Dad periodically reminded us that,
Rain or shine, success or failure, acceptance or rejection, everyday is a lovely day.
Those sentiments are encaspulated in the Irving Berlin song, Isn't It a Lovely Day?. Though Dad, much to Mum's chagrin encouraged to write our own little list songs from Gilbert & Sullivan's Mikado, It's A Lovely Day was special to him, in the same manner that Tea for Two was Mum's favourite.
Here's why.
Top Hat
Top Hat, 1935 American screwball musical comedy. Top Hat, White Tie and Tails (the formal wear required on a party invitation: top hat, white tie, and a tailcoat) was written by Irving Berlin for the eponymous film Top Hat. In Isn't This A Lovely Day? from Top Hat, Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers' characters are caught in a gazebo during a rainstorm.
He's a real inspiration for a writer.
I'd never have written Top Hat without him.
He makes you feel so secure.

We did some beautiful numbers. The one with the castle all broken down, and
around the water, was beautiful music beautifully choreographed. Working with
Vera Ellen was such a joy.
And there’s one they cut out [when the movie is shown] on television. It had
everything: a very fast two-person number, tap dancing. If you see the picture in
its entirety, you’ll see it.
That was, for me, my best dancing.

Peter Skellern
Peter Skellern, ( You’re A Lady), who wanted to be ordained since he was nine years old, was given the rare honour of being ordained both as a deacon & a priest on the same day, under a special faculty from the Archbishop of Canterbury.
For about a week I hung in this abyss and I just grabbed God.
I was given a year to live and everything fell, apart from my belief in God.
Then God closed the ground beneath me and I became resigned and happy
and I have been like that ever since.
