State of the Sndbox is a weekly newsletter that provides the latest in Sndbox activities, introduces new fellows, projects, and provides the best resources in creative empowerment for the Steemit community. To get up-to-date on all of our development throughout the week, be sure to follow us @sndbox.
This Week in the Sndbox
Welcome to the 25th State of the Sndbox newsletter! This week, we’ve launched a new curation account for the 1st Sndbox cohort, updated Steemit Tutorial resources, kickstarted History 5151 with @phillyhistory, and announced the winners of the Steem infographic challenge!
For a more thorough breakdown of what our members have been up to, be sure to go through our weekly Sndbox Selections of the Week post that we publish each Monday.
Curating Content with @sndbox-alpha
This week, our most significant development is the launch of @sndbox-alpha, a community curation initiative spearheaded by the first cohort of the Sndbox incubator (comprised of over 100 Steemians). Alpha will have rotating liaisons and rotating curation themes each month (see schedule below). The goal of this experimental curation initiative is to cultivate long-term support for sub-communities with overlapping interests. Part of our incubator mission is to mix disciplines, backgrounds and geographies.
Broadening a Creative Footprint on Steemit
For the next 5 months - Alpha will be encouraged to support non-sndbox member content. (With extremely rare cases - big announcements, campaigns - as an exception to that rule.) To kickstart Alpha, @sndbox has delegated 30,000 Steem Power to the account. If your curious to learn more about Alpha read the full introduction and guidelines here. Below, you'll find a preliminary schedule of themes that Alpha will be curating in the coming months.
- January : Art + Music
- February : Meetups + Philanthropy
- March : Philosophy + Writing + Literature
- April : Education + Science
- May : Steemit Comments
History on the Move #explore1918
History is in the making with @phillyhistory! Today (Wednesday) we'll be generating Steemit accounts for 15 graduate students from Temple University. Each student will be using Steemit to blog about research and fundraise for History 5151, learn more about the course, here.
Join us in discovering what the world looked like 100 years ago! Yesterday, we launched a challenge calling for stories and significant moments of history from the year 1918. Read the prompt and see how you can contribute here.
TR Community Spotlight with @monomyth
The Turkish community is a small but vibrant and dedicated community on Steemit. One of our proud Sndcastles is @tach, composed of a group led by passionate Steemian @monomyth. In this week’s interview, we had a chance to ask about his experiences and new efforts with @tach’s marketing and educational efforts.

What’s in Your Wallet?
The Steemit wallet tab is full of powerful resources! But it can also be a confusing place for new and even experienced users. Multiple currencies, multiple functions, and multiple storage types all under that single tag. We’ve combined our initial wallet resource for a full one-stop-shop for all things related to your Steem-centric assets.
Go through the complete illustrated and concise guide, here. Explore our other Steemit Tutorials and resources, below:

Steem Stats Competition Winners!
Last week, we launched a call for the best creative illustrations of Steem’s prowess compared to other mainstream cryptos. When you look at the stats, it’s obvious that Steemit’s supporting currency is top-tier and we thought of no better way of sharing that other than by sourcing the community’s best creative renditions.
Check out the full list of winners and honorable mentions here.
