Neural lace in the plains of Shinar : Reimagining homo sapiens, as we know it?

Owning our legacy

What future will we bequeath to posterity?
If all we want is to pursue our own happiness, will we let the devil take tomorrow, if he helps us make it through our dark night?
Suspend logic, consume media we.
"Free. Why aren't we?"
Mortgaged our fate have we
To politically correct expedience
For convenience surrendering security
    Suspending thinking faculties
Initiating a smorgasbord of imitation games
Hive minds, neural lace & voices of God
    Block progress, will you?
    Luddite slob.
We flew on Eagles wings in 69
The lovely place wasn't easy to find
We were told even then
The hotel not worthy of a check in
Now, we're letting Valkyries come online
Determining who will live & who will die.

This essay reviews issues that, while they of an order higher than a black swan, have managed to remain invisible mainstream media's radar.
As we have done with deficit financing, do we choose to kick these cans down the road? Contrary to Bohemian Rhapsody, have we forged our generation's, " escape from reality"? After all, as the Lord Keynes said, "In the long run we are all dead".
   What will we remember tomorrow?
How will our children remember us?
Who owns the responsibilty for the memories of our grandchildren?

Science is enabling exponential technologies at such a break neck pace that we may approach the Singularity even in the lifetime of today's 50 year old!
When an exponential technology is at 1%, you are halfway to 100%.
   Ray Kurzweil

Are we ready for the ethical challenges of sons of God?
The social upheavals that accompanythe plains of Shinar on steroids?
Are we primed to take ownership of our legacy?

History does not repeat itself; it often rhymes

Is our past the barometer of our future?
Does past history prophesize future history?

Sons of God

(AMPC) Gen 6:4 There were giants on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God lived with the daughters of men, and they bore children to them. These were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Shinar

(AMPC) Gen 11: 1 AND THE whole earth was of one language and of one accent and mode of expression.
2 And as they journeyed eastward, they found a plain (valley) in the land of Shinar, and they settled and dwelt there.
(AMPC) Gen 11: 6 And the Lord said, Behold, they are one people and they haveall one language; and this is only the beginning of what they will do, and now nothing they have imagined they can do will be impossible for them.

Science, fiction, fact & reality

Science fiction

The Culture has the capability to read and store the full sentience of any being, biological or artificial, through neural laces, and....reactivate a stored being after its death....necessitates the capability to read thoughts,.....doing this without permission is considered taboo. Neural laces...allow for the user to quickly search for and access information,....the neural lace is installed in the user's brain.
Look to Windward, from Iain M. Banks' Culture sci-fi saga assumes the programming of neurons.

Clarke's three laws

Arthur C. Clarke's three adages

  1. When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right.
When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong.
  2. The only way of discovering the limits of the possible is to venture a little way past them into the impossible.
  3. Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic.

Science fact

Over time I think we will probably see a closer merger of biological intelligence & digital intelligence.
It's mostly about the bandwidth, the speed of the connection between your brain & the digital version of yourself, particularly output.

Founded by Elon Musk, Neuralink is developing brain-computer interfaces (BCI).

Collective Consciousness, Hive Minds

We will see that the 1.5 kilograms (3 pounds) of bees in a honeybee swarm, just like the 1.5 kilograms (3 pounds) of neurons in a human brain, achieve their collective wisdom by organizing themselves in such a way that even though each individual has limited information and limited intelligence, the group as a whole makes first-rate collective.
Thomas Seeley Honeybee Democracy
IMG_1548.JPG
A colony of honeybees is, then, far more than an aggregation of individuals, it is a composite being that functions as an integrated whole. Indeed, one can accurately think of a honeybee colony as a single living entity, weighing as much as 5 kilograms (10 pounds) and performing all of the basic physiological processes that support life: ingesting and digesting food, maintaining nutritional balance, circulating resources, exchanging respiratory gases, regulating water content, controlling body temperature, sensing the environment, deciding how to behave, and achieving locomotion.
Thomas Seeley Honeybee Democracy

When fully operational, Neuralink's brian computer interface will facilitate a seamless connectivity to a collective consciousness, human & animal brain melding, human minds & artificial intelligence merging & so on.
With a hive mind's human component, could machines become sentient beings?
Is the hive mind the final nail in the coffin of personal privacy?

From the voice of God to becoming God.

Cybernetics

In a sense, we have always been subject to control via social conditioning. e.g the legal system, parental discipline & peer pressure. Businesses seek to influence behaviour through selling & marketing. Religions manage their adherents. Governments seek to enforce conformity. The military & intelligence comminities, overtly & covertly essay behaviour management of an enemy.
Oversimplified, cybernetics is the science & art of control.
cybernetics
sʌɪbəˈnɛtɪks/
the science of communications & automatic control systems
in both machines & living things
from Greek kubernētēs ‘steersman’,
from kubernan ‘to steer’.
Hitherto, the scope of malevolent cybernetics merely was turbo-charged individual & group mind control. Today, cybernetics has laid the theoretical foundation for creating a hive mind of humans, humanoids, transhumans, robots, non-humans & other artificial intelligences.

Wars & battles have been won by getting into the head of the enemy. Why the Turks surrendered Jerusalem is a case in point.

Allenby, Allah Beh

IMG_1573.JPG
Allenby formally entered Jerusalem on foot through the Jaffa gate; not on horse-back or in a vehicle, in order to demonstrate his respect for the holy city.

Then Gen Edmund Allenby, later 1st Viscount Allenby captured Jersusalem from the Ottoman Turks.
Allenby's aircraft dropped leaflets on Jerusalem, demanding that the Turks surrender.
The Turks had an ancient prophesy that, until a man of Allah came, they would continue to hold Jerusalem. Allenby's signature on the leaflet was erroneously interpreted as Allah Beh or man of Allah.
The Turks obediently surrendered Jetusalem without even firing a shot.

KJV Rev 18:23 The light of a lamp shall not shine in you anymore, and the voice of bridegroom and bride shall not be heard in you anymore. For your merchants were the great men of the earth, for by your sorcery all the nations were deceived.

DARPA's voice of God

In the Iraq War, DARPA's voice of God tech penetrated the minds of the enemy, deceiving them into thinking that they were hearing voices from God.

DARPA's Dr. Robert Duncan specializes in artificial intelligence, robotics & redefining what humans will be in the future.

The Turing Test

The Turing test is a test, of a machine's ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour equivalent to, or indistinguishable from, that of a human.
Alan Turing's 1951 paper, The Imitation Game provides a template to assess machine intelligence.
The jury is stiil out on whether any machine has passed the Turing Test. It is only a matter of time before it is regarded as normal for machines, having passed the Turing Test, to be as intelligent as humans, if not smarter.
