All orchid freaks know the feeling of pride when a new orchid blooms for the first time. I really wasn't expecting this one to bloom this year! I got it a year and a half ago as a young plant and I was almost sure that not sooner than next year I will see some flowers.

It was growing... and growing... and then one day I saw a quite a big flower bud! How in a world did I miss that? Just one flower for now, but that is totally fine for a young plant and first time bloomer. Next year will be better.

Procatavola Golden Peacock is not a big orchid with those lovely thin leaves. Very still and green. The flower is also very waxy and stiff. Another thing I didn't expect. I am used to flowers that are soft to touch and the petals are delicate and thin. Those orange petals feel like a thick plastic :p
The flower lasted about 5 weeks. Now I am waiting for more!

And of course my gardening helper had to approve the plant before the shooting. Thank you Suzi :)
