Thank you for the large interest in my last post here about the "Neusiedler See " yesterday, more than 50 upvotes brought a smile to my face. Today I want to show you a nice small Town in Austria which is also worth visiting if you come by for a stop.

Well known town in Austria
Gmunden is a small town with about 13.000 inhabitants in Upper Austria on the Traunsee. This summer I visited Gmunden twice as it is a beautiful place and it is only about an hour away from my home town Linz. Of Course I took a lot of pictures there. Gmunden is known for its Ceramic Factory “Gmundner Keramik” and for its main place and the “Seeschloss Ort”. The Seeschloss Ort is popular in austria because it was the main attraction and place for an Austrian TV Show “Schlosshotel Orth”. It is one of the oldest buildings in Upper Austria which was already mentioned in Year 909.

Gmunden is very nice in summer if you want to swim in the Traunsee, there are some official bathing spots nearby. There are also a lot of ships traveling the Traunsee. A lot of couples visit Gmunden every year near the “Schloss Ort” there is a nice heart shaped place where you can hang up a lovelock.
Festival of Lights
Every Year in Summer the people in Gmunden celebrate the “Festival of lights” wich is a nice festival visited by thousands of people. There is always a nice firework in this night in Gmunden and I was lucky to visit it last year in August. During the Day there is a lot of interesting organized action for young and old. Besides Waterski and other sporting events there are always great Bands playing at the town square. Of course there are also a lot of kiosks selling food and other stuff to the visitors. When the sun set the fireworks will light up the sky for several minutes.
