Woodstock Vermont - roadside art, craft beer, covered bridges, and cow kisses

My now husband and I lived in New England for many years before we got married and moved south. During those years we took many weekend road trips to Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Vermont. Here are some shots from one of my favorite trips to Woodstock, Vermont.

While driving on a back road, we stumbled upon this completely unmarked stack of filing cabinets.

A giraffe does business here. (Most likely).

We also passed some artistic additions to otherwise ordinary buildings.

Vermont has much to offer in the way of craft beer breweries. Some of the stars from this trip are Magic Hat, Long Trail, and Harpoon.

The Magic Hat brewery has a unique vibe, with funky artwork and down to earth staff. Harpoon's motto is 'Love Beer'.

There are so many inconspicuous beautiful views everywhere you turn in and around Vermont, like this old red wooden covered bridge in Taftsville, near Woodstock. We didn't realize it at the time, but the Taftsville covered bridge, built in 1836, is one of the oldest working covered bridges in the United States. Before it was constructed, over the course of several decades, bridges were built at its location on the Ottauquechee River, only to be later washed away by floodwaters. After the third such bridge was washed away, this covered timber design was constructed to withstand the dangers of floodwaters, and it has been standing strong ever since it's construction in 1836.

We crossed these tracks driving around on our way to Sugarbush Farm, a maple syrup farm which also happens to be home of the world's best aged cheddar cheese (rated by me).

Sugarbush has a few animals, and we were near enough to catch a shot of this tender moment between friends.
