There are more people aspiring to be bloggers now than ever in the past. With the availability of free platforms that make the entry into the blogging world a breeze there is a feeling that running a blog must be quite easy. But nothing could be far from the truth.
Steemit is fast becoming the go-to platform for new bloggers with a strong community, a place on the blockchain, and rewards that are unmatched for content on the internet.
In this post I have a few tips that will help any blogger who is new or yet to achieve good traction in his or her blogging efforts.
Topic
The first step for any new blogger is to decide the topic on which to create content. The most common advice is to choose a niche that you are passionate about. I would add to that and say that it should also be a niche that your audience is interested in.
For example, you will be able to see the list of popular tags and figure out the most popular topics on Steemit. Don't write for yourself - always create content for the audience that you are targeting.
Followers
If you're a blogger in Steemit the next step is to create a following however small it might be. Creating blog posts without a single person to read it is like talking to yourself. The best way to get followers is to make useful comments on the blogs of others.
The comments must be closely related to the blog post and add value to the content. Chances are that the blogger will also start following you in addition to the readers of the blog post. Besides gaining followers, comments also start the flow of SBD and Steem into your account which will encourage you to post more.
Content
Once you have followers, start creating content that is unique and interesting. Copying or rewriting content found on the web can damage your reputation forever besides being flagged down, causing loss of rewards and credibility.
The post should be well researched and have useful facts, or tips from your experience. It could also be an entertaining post to make the reader smile.
Make sure to format the post well with small blocks of text, images and line dividers. It should be readable and not seem intimidating to the reader with one large block of only text to read.
Editing
When your content is ready you must correct any spelling errors first and then proceed to read through the post to check whether it sounds interesting and conversational. Posts that contain several spelling mistakes and grammatical errors will not be read in full by most readers. Besides, some of your followers will stop reading your content if they contain too many errors.
Promotion
Once you publish the post the work does not stop there. There are various ways of promoting your post whether it is using social media platforms, Discord groups or chat forums. Use one or a few ways to promote your content so that your post gets more visibility, other than just appearing in your followers feeds.
Consistency
Keep repeating the steps above and over due course of time your posts will do better and better. The trick is to be consistent and regular, whether is posting daily or at least blogging a few times a week. Your followers will also increase and you will be an author with credibility with a growing blog.
These tips are basic but will create a strong foundation for success. I have kept it stupid simple in this post for any newbie who wants to succeed on Steemit. Once you start achieving success you will have developed your own style and will know what works, and the kind of content that is appreciated and upvoted.
I do hope that you find this post useful and helps you in some way in your journey on Steemit. Wish you all the best!.
