Sorting through receipts - Day 80 - Daily Haiku

Sorting through receipts
deductible and not so
I dislike taxes

Cori MacNaughton

Yeah, big reveal there, I realize. It isn't as if hoards of us are reveling in the necessity of sorting through last year's detritus just so that the government can commandeer their share of our "voluntary" taxes.

You do know they are supposed to be voluntary, right? Yeah, right. Tell that to the I.R.S.

The photo at top is of our cat, Miod, stretching just after he exited one of his favorite spots, the kitchen windowsill. Another of his favorite spots was on top of the kitchen cabinets, high above the sink, or else on top of the aquarium, about eight feet away. He definitely liked the kitchen.

He has been gone for nearly two years, yet I still catch myself glancing to the top of the cabinets every so often, as if still expecting him to be there.

What does our late cat have to do with preparing for taxes? Absolutely nothing, which is kind of the point. He is much more pleasant to look at than stacks of sundry paperwork and receipts. ;-)

Melaleuca, a company that has been making natural, eco-friendly

chemically laden versions from the supermarket,

I was introduced to them by a co-worker in 1990, lost track
of them, and was thrilled to find them again about a year
and a half ago. I strongly recommend their products.

All words and images are my own.

The photo of our dog, Lolo, and our late cat, Miod, I took as they were cooperatively begging at the dinner table, despite our longstanding rule of not feeding them from the table.

You can see how much that deterred them both.
