November 2017 - Week 1
November 2017 - Week 2
November 2017 - Week 3
I will aim to provide this report on a weekly basis, and at the end of the month provide a full summary of the month that has passed. This will allow contributors and 'employees' of utopian.io to keep in touch with how the platform is progressing with regards to approval percentages and number of Contribution types being submitted.
Assumptions
Currently, there is no indicator for 'approved' or 'rejected' contributions to utopian.io on the Steem Blockchain.
In this report, 'Approved' contributions have been voted on by @utopian-io.
'Rejected' contributions have not received a vote from @utopian-io.
1. Contributions Summary
For the fourth week of November 2017 - 22nd - 30th inclusive, the SteemSQL DataBase holds a total of 1851 potential contributions to utopian-io - 805 more than last weeks' total of 1046.
1067 of these contributions were approved - 58%. This approval percentage is down 13% on the previous week, but there were 327 more contributions approved in total.
The Contributions offered can be any one of the following types:
This weeks data, split into Contribution types is shown in the pie chart below:
2 Contributions by Type
In this section we take a look a few of the individual contribution types and they are presented using a pie chart.
A full list of contribution types is listed further below with associated figures and analysis.

All contribution types
The following table shows all types and totals of contributions submitted, with their approval % in the end column.
3. Summary Analysis
58% of all contributions were approved, down from 71% last week. This figure could be lower because of the increasing load on the Utopian moderators but is still an encouraging number for contributors to utopian.io.
While we have seen growth in all contribution areas, 'Analysis' contributions in particular have risen dramatically over the month of November.
It is my feeling (and suggestion), that daily 'analysis' statistics should either be stopped as a contribution, or re-categorized as a 'Standard Report' or something simliar, so that their 'weight' as a contribution can be reduced.
Analysis required data over a period of time in order to look at past/future trends - this is where value is provided. I strongly advise @utopian-io to consider this proposal in order to reduce the pressure on the STEEM reward pool.
As the weeks' pass and the data collected expands, it is possible to learn more about the developing trends in the utopian-io ecosystem.
We can already see that the number of contributions is rising impressively.
. | OCTOBER | NOV WK 1 | NOV WK 2 | NOV WK 3 | NOV WK 4 |
---|---|---|---|---|---|
Total | 740 | 360 | 655 | 1046 | 1851 |
Approved | 524 | 238 | 494 | 744 | 1067 |
In week 2, I wrote:
The number of votes (approved submissions) cast this month could well exceed 2000, which would be almost 4 times more than the month of October.
The total of approved contributions has reached 2543 for the month of November.
This number is likely to increase as contributions put 'on hold' will be released over the following few days.
Week look forward with interest to the month of December to see if this rapid growth can continue.
5. Tools used to gather this data and compile report
The data is sourced from SteemSQL - A publicly available SQL database with all the blockchain data held within (Data is normally 1/2 hours delayed from live)
The SQL queries to extra to the data have been produced in both SQL Server Personal Edition and LINQPAD 5.
The charts used to present the data were produced using MS Excel.
This data was compiled on the 1st December 2017 at 11:00am CET
I am part of a Steemit Business Intelligence community. We all post under the tag #bisteemit. If you have analysis you would like to be carried out on utopian-io/Steem data, please do contact me or any of the #bisteemit team and we will do our best to help you.
